2026 Operating Budget that will require raising more revenue from
property taxes than in the FY 2024-2025 Operating Budget in the
amount of $6,061,319.00.
WHEREAS, the City Council has, on the same date as and prior to its
consideration and adoption of this Ordinance, adopted by separate Ordinance the budget
of the City of Corpus Christi for the FY 2025-2026;
WHEREAS, the FY 2025-2026 budget will require raising more revenue from
property taxes than in the budget of the City of Corpus Christi for FY 2024-2025;
WHEREAS, Section 102.007(c) of the Texas Local Government Code provides
that adoption of a budget that will require raising more revenue from property taxes than
in the previous year does require a separate vote of the City Council to ratify the property
tax increase reflected in the budget; and that a vote under this subsection is in addition
to and separate from the vote to adopt the budget or a vote to set the tax rate; and
WHEREAS, in order to comply with that provision, it is necessary for the City
Council to adopt this Ordinance; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. In accordance with the requirements of Section 102.007(c), Texas Local
Government Code, the property tax increase reflected in the FY 2025-2026 Operating
Budget that will require raising more revenue from property taxes than in the FY
2024-2025 Operating Budget in the amount of $6,061,319.00 is hereby ratified.
