HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Corpus Christi Aquifer Storage and Recovery Conservation District - 09/11/2023 CORPUS CHRISTI WATER REGULAR MEETINGMINUTES OF THE Corpus Christi Aquifer Storage & Recovery Conservation District (CCASRCD) Monday, September 11, 2023 Choke Canyon Conf Rm The Board of Directors of the Corpus Christi Aquifer Storage and Recovery Conservation District met in regular session at Corpus Christi Water, 2726 Holly Rd, Corpus Christi, Texas, with the following in attendance: Members:In Attendance: (non-members) Dan McGinn, PresidentMaria Corona, Administrator, Water Resources Jeff Edmonds(Virtual), SecretaryBelinda Balderas, Water Resources Amber Oetting(Virtual), At-LargeDaisy Fuentes, Water Resources Sharon Murphy (Virtual), At-LargeAimee Alcorn-Reed, Legal, Assistant City Attorney Esteban (Steve) Ramos,Manager (1)Call Meeting to Order The meeting was called to order by President, Dan McGinnat 10:32 am.The roll was called. Aquorum was presentto conduct the meeting. (2) Public Comment: No Public Comment (3) Review and Approval of minutes of the May 31, 2023Regular Meeting ACTION:A motion was made by Jeff Edmonds to approve the minutes of the May 31, 2023,meeting. Amber Oetting seconded the motion.The Vote: Minutes Approved (4) UpdatePublicOfficialBondApplications: REMINDER THAT ALL BONDS UPDATED DISCUSSION:Steve Ramos,the District’s Manager gave an update to remind everyone that all the bonds are paid and up to date.Dan McGinn asked if the bonds were in case they are sued. Aimee Reed stated that it is a requirement of the charter. Maria Corona reminded that some terms are due to expire at the end of this year and some next year. (5) Discussion and Approval: GroundwaterWellPermit forBarneyDavisWell Application DISCUSSION:The District Administrator, Maria Corona, informed the Board that a Public Meeting was held last month where6 people were in attendance, including the Applicant. A copy of the sign-in sheet is in your packets. The District Manager, Steve Ramos, informed the Board that the main concerns of he attendees was the location of the well and if it was going to have any affects on their wells. He reminded the Board that Barney David is an Industrial Facility, and their permit will be used as a backup. He noted that Barney Davis experienced low pressure during the freeze and consequently applied for the permit to use as a backup in case something similar were to happen again. Mr. Ramos stated that the application was reviewed and that it falls within the District rules for the permit. He asked if the Board had any questions. There were questions. Mr. Ramos seeing that there were no questions, asked the Board to consider the approval of the Application. ACTION: A motion was made by Amber Oetting to approve the Barney Davis Well Application. Jeff Edmonds seconded the motion. The Vote: Application Approved Maria Corona informed the Board that Steve Ramos would sign the Permit and a copy would be sent to the applicant. (6) Staff Announcements: Steve Ramos made an announcement that Maria Corona is leaving to take a position outside the City. Furthermore, the District will need to find a new Administrator. Maria Corona stated that this would probably be her last meeting, as she put in her 2 weeks’ notice last Friday. Steve Ramos: This group will begin to meet more often. Even if just for 20 minutes to discuss items with the Aquifer Storage and Recovery. Any questions can be answered at that time. Next meeting to be scheduled at City Hall. (7) Adjournment: There being no further business to discuss, President, Dan MGinn adjourned the meeting at 10:42 am.
