HomeMy WebLinkAbout033857 RES - 02/10/2026Resolution authorizing submission of a grant application for $71,230.49 to the State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division under the Violence Against Women Act Fund with a cash match of $25,427.84, and in -kind services of $8,160.00. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi finds that it is in the best interest of the citizens of Corpus Christi, Texas that the Violence Against Women Project be operated for the State's FY 2026-27; and WHEREAS, the City Council agrees to provide applicable matching funds for the said project as required by the State of Texas Criminal Justice Division grant application; and WHEREAS, the City Council agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Office of the Governor funds, the City of Corpus Christi, Texas assures that the funds will be returned to the Office of the Governor in full; and WHEREAS, the City Council designates Mike Markle, Chief of Police for the City of Corpus Christi as the grantee's authorized official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency; and WHEREAS, the City Council designates Sergio Villasana, Director of Finance & Procurement, as the grantee's financial officer. The financial officer is given the power to submit financial and/or programmatic reports or alter a grant on behalf of the applicant agency. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Council approves submission of the grant application for the Violence Against Women Act Project to the State of Texas Criminal Justice Division in the amount of $71,230.49 for funding available under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Fund. SECTION 2. The City Council commits to provide for the applicate cash match of $25,427.84, and $8,160.00 in -kind services. SECTION 3. The City Council designates the Chief of Police as the grantee's authorized official. The authorized official may apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate the grant. SECTION 4. The City Council designates Sergio Villasana, Director of Finance & Procurement, as the grantee's financial officer.
