Public Safety Office - Homeland Security Grants Division for the
State Homeland Security Program totaling $138,750.57 for two
EOD/Bomb disposal suits with helmets and up-to-date
navigation/electronic equipment for two Search and Recovery Boats
for the Corpus Christi Police Department Dive Team.
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi finds it in the best interest of the citizens of Corpus
Christi that the Homeland Security Program grants for EOD/Bomb suits and Search and
Recovery Dive Boat Electronics be operated for the 2027 Program Year;
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the
Office of the Governor funds, The City of Corpus Christi assures that the funds will be
returned to the Office of the Governor in full;
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi designates Mike Markle, Chief of Police, as the
grantee's authorized official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for, accept,
reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency; and
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi designates Sergio Villasana, Director of Finance,
as the grantee's financial officer. The financial officer is given the power to submit financial
and/or programmatic reports or alter a grant on behalf of the applicant agency.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The Corpus Christi City Council finds that the foregoing statements included
in the preamble of this resolution are true and correct, and hereby affirms such findings for
all intents and purposes, and approves the submission of the two grant applications for
the Homeland Security Program to the Office of the Governor.
SECTION 2. The two grant applications to the Homeland Security Program total
$138,750.57 for two EOD/Bomb disposal suits with helmets and up-to-date
navigation/electronic equipment for two Search and Recovery Boats for the Corpus
Christi Police Department Dive Team.
SECTION 3. There is no City cash match nor in -kind services required for these grants,
and upon award of the grant, acceptance and appropriation.
