$881,418.00 to the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority to
continue the Motor Vehicle Theft Unit activities in the Corpus Christi
Police Department with a City cash match of $222,587.00 and an in -
kind match of $827,736.00 for a total project cost of $1,931,741.00 to
fund four sworn officers and three civilians.
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Texas Transportation Code Chapter 1006 and
Texas Administrative Code Title 43; Part 3; Chapter 57, entities are eligible to receive
grants from the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority to provide financial support
to law enforcement agencies for economic motor vehicle theft and fraud -related motor
vehicle crime enforcement teams;
WHEREAS, this grant program will assist this jurisdiction to combat motor vehicle theft,
motor vehicle burglary and fraud -related motor vehicle crimes; and
WHEREAS, this grant program will also focus on proactive policing of automotive
businesses in the City to reduce the sale of stolen vehicles and parts.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager or designee is authorized to submit a grant application
in the amount of $881,418.00 to the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority to continue
the Motor Vehicle Theft Unit activities in the Corpus Christi Police Department with a City
cash match of $222,587.00 and an in -kind match of $827,736.00 for a total project cost
of $1,931,741.00 to fund four sworn officers and three civilians.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager, or designee, is designated as the authorized official
to apply for, accept, decline, modify, or cancel the grant application for the Motor Vehicle
Crime Prevention Authority Grant Program, and all other necessary documents to accept
said grant; and
SECTION 3. That the Chief of Police, or designee, is designated as the Program
Director, and the Finance Director is designated as the Financial Officer for this grant.
The financial officer is given the power to submit financial and/or programmatic reports
or alter a grant on behalf of the applicant agency.
SECTION 4. The City agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the grant funds, the
City assures that the grant funds will be returned, in full, to the Motor Vehicle Crime
Prevention Authority.

I, the Director of the Finance & Procurement Department of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas (or his/her
duly authorized representative), hereby certify to the City Council and other appropriate officers that the
money required for the current fiscal year's portion of the contract, agreement, obligation or
expenditure described above is in the Treasury to the credit of the Fund specified above, from which it is
to be drawn, and has not been appropriated for any other purpose. Future payments are subject to
annual appropriation by the City Council.
