Department of Education for participation in the Choice Partners
purchasing program to purchase health benefit services and other
goods and services that benefit the City of Corpus Christi.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Interlocal Cooperation Act, Government Code,
Chapter 791, and Local Government Code, Chapter 271, the City of Corpus Christi (City)
may participate in cooperative purchasing programs established by the State, other
municipalities, counties, special districts, and other political subdivisions in order to
facilitate the procurement of necessary goods and services in full compliance with State
bidding laws, via an interlocal cooperation agreement (Interlocal Agreement);
WHEREAS, participation in cooperative purchasing programs allows the City to
utilize qualified vendors/suppliers of goods and services, realize potential economies
including the achievement of administrative cost savings, and obtain goods and services
highly beneficial to the City and its citizens;
WHEREAS, the City desires to participate in the cooperative purchasing program
established by the Harris County Department of Education (Harris County), whose
purchasing program operates under the name "Choice Partners"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that execution of the necessary Interlocal
Agreement and participation in the Choice Partners purchasing program is beneficial to
the City and in compliance with State law; therefore,
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas:
SECTION 1. The City Council specifically finds that the foregoing statements included in
the preamble of this resolution are true and correct and adopts such findings for all intents
and purposes related to this resolution.
SECTION 2. The City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to execute an Interlocal
Agreement and any additional necessary documents with Harris County for participation
in the Choice Partners purchasing cooperative. A copy of the final executed Interlocal
Agreement will be filed with the City Secretary's Office.
