WHEREAS, the City Council shall appoint its municipal judges by ordinance pursuant to Texas Government Code §30.00006, City Charter Art. II, Sec. 26, and Corpus Christi Code Sec. 29-4; WHEREAS, the City Council finds the following appointees meets the qualifications for Presiding Municipal Court judge pursuant to the Corpus Christi Code and State law; and WHEREAS, this Ordinance does not constitute an employment contract, and appointees are not employees but are public officers authorized by law to independently exercise functions subject to revision and correction only according to the standing laws of this state. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. Jacqueline Del Llano Chapa is reappointed as Presiding Judge of the Municipal Court of Record in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, to serve full-time for a definite term of two years, beginning August 1, 2026, and ending August 1, 2028. SECTION 2. The presiding judge shall receive a fixed salary of $158, 324.47. SECTION 3. Carlos Omar Reyna is appointed as part-time judge #3 to serve part-time for the remainder of the unexpired definite term, beginning June 24, 2025, and ending June 24, 2027. SECTION 4. As a part-time judge, Carlos Omar Reyna shall receive an hourly rate of $49.69 per hour. SECTION 5. This ordinance constitutes an action by the City Council not to reappoint any and all judges not appointed herein per Texas Government Code §29.005. SECTION 6.
