Mayor James L. Barnard called the meeting to order,
City Secretary T. Ray Kring called the roll of those in attendance.
Mayor Barnard announced the purpose of the special meeting was to
hold a joint hearing with the Zoning & Planning Commission on a zoning appli-
cation and explained the procedure to be followed.
Mayor Barnard announced the public hearing to be held jointly with
the Zoning & Planning Commission on the application of Mrs. Dorothy Wilkie
for a special Council permit for the operation of a needlecraft center on
Lots 41 and 42, Flock 817, Port Aransas Cliffs.
William Anderson, Director of Planning, located the property on the
map and pointed out the zoning and land use of the area.
Faires Wade, attorney representing the applicant, explained that
the application includes the request for permit to erect a circular adver-
tising sign approximately 3, square, and for the use of one window as a dis-
play window, and urged that the special Council permit be granted,
C. Be Caswell stated that the neighboring residents and property
owners had opposed "B-1" zoning for the property in question, but did not
oppose a special permit for the needlecraft center.
William Shireman, attorney representing Aldredge Bros,, owners of
Lots 43 to 48, Block 817, Port Aransas Cliffs, spoke in support of "B-1"
zoning for this area.
No one appeared in opposition to the application.
Motion by de Leon, seconded by Roberts and passed that the hearing
be closed.
Mayor Barnard declared the meeting would stand in recess,
