Dear Mr. Dodson:
By this letter, I respectfully request a one year no-cost extension to our current contract number
UTA97-0049 entitled "Biological Monitoring of Effects of Wastewater Diversions on Primary
and Secondary Production in Rincon Delta and Nueces Bay as Indices of Water and Habitat
Quality". As you well know, the construction of the wastewater diversion was delayed
substantially due to a number of problems obtaining permits and easements. As result of these
delays, the schedule of our sampling program was reduced in order to conserve funds for use
after the project attains full operational status. Currently, there are approximately enough funds
to monitor for an additional six months and the remaining time could be well spent analyzing the
data and writing a project report. As we discussed, we would be glad to present a briefing and
prepare some preliminary data analysis and figures showing current progress on the project at
your convenience.
