Singer Acting City Secretary Doris Prancia • Mayor James L. Barnard reconvened the recessed special meeting of September 23, 1964, of a joint public hearing with the Zoning & Planning Commission to con- sider the proposed zoning for the newly annexed area of the City, and such other matters as may properly come before the Council. The Acting City Secretary called the roll of those in attendance. Mr. Tom Marshall, Chairman of the Zoning & Planning Commission, certified to the presence of a quorum of the Zoning & Planning Commission. Mayor Barnard asked if anyone present wished to be heard with respect to the proposed zoning for any of the newly annexed area of the City. Stoddart Smith, owner of Lots 20, 21 & 22, Section 47, Lot 6, Section 40, and Lots 9, 10 & 11, Section 49, in Flour Bluff & Encinal Farm & Carden Tracts, requested Apartment House zoning, on the basis that most of the residences are rentals; that the trend in living is toward apartments, and that there is a de- mand for apartments in the school area and at the Base. It was noted that Commissioner Wallace had arrived at the meeting. Garth Taylor, American House Moving Company, owner of 5 acres of land at the corner of Calicote and Shell Road, a portion of Lot 2, Fallin's Riverside Subdivi- sion, requested "L -I" zoning as the only zoning under which this business can operate. He pointed out that his application for permanent zoning on this property was still pending. City Manager Whitney reported receipt of 3 letters with respect to request for permanent zoning, Heldenfela, Block & Walton, and Nueces Investment. Mayor Barnard explained that all letters of request would be made avail- able to the Zoning & Planning Commission; and Tom Lake reported receipt of 7 or 8 letters, which included some of the requests reported by theCity Manager. No one else appeared to be heard. • City of Corpus Christi, Texas Recessed Special Meeting October 7, 1964 Page 2 Motion by de Leon, seconded by Roberts and passed that the public hearing be closed, Tom Marshall, Chairman of the Zoning & Planning Commission, announced a similar action by the Commission. There being no further business to come before the Council, and there being no objection, the recessed special meeting of the Council was adjourned.
