Wallace MINUTES CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING June 16, 1965 8:00 a.m. City Manager Herbert W. Whitney City Attorney I. M. Singer City Secretary T. Ray Kring Mayor McIver Furman called the meeting to order and announced the purpose of the special meeting for the opening of bids on Annual Supply Contracts for ap- proximately forty-four items required by the various Divisions of the City, and such other business as may properly come before the Council. City Manager Whitney announced that five bids were received after the stipu- lated time, two were handed in this morning and three were received by mail, post- marked prior to the deadline, and recommended that these five bide be accepted, waiving the time limit. Motion by Wallace, seconded by McDaniel and passed that the five bids re- ferred to by the City Manager be accepted for the purpose of the meeting. Bids were opened on Oxygen & Acetylene from the following: Ace Welding Supply Company; Big Three Industrial Gas & Equipment Company; Crane Welding Supply Company; and Welder's Equipment Company. Bids were opened on 4 Lots of Janitorial Supply Items from the following: Century Papers, Inc.; Certified Laboratories; DuBois Chemicals; Gulf Disinfectant Company; Hillyard Sales Company; Kemtex Chemicals, Inc.; Nationwide Papers, Inc.; and Welch's C.C. Janitor Supply. Prior to the opening of bids on Water Treating Chemicals, a representative of McKesson & Robbins requested permission to withdraw the portion of this bid relative to truck load delivery. The Council agreed to grant the request, and this item of the McKesson & Robbins bid on Water Treating Chemicals was not read. Motion by Wallace, seconded by Sizemore and passed that the bid of Southern Plumbing Supply Company, received at 8:47 on June 16, 1965, on Mechanical Joint Gate Valves, not be accepted or opened due to the lateness of the bid. All of the foregoing bids which were opened and read were tabled for forty- eight hours as required by City Charter, and referred to the City Manager for tabu- lation and recommendation. There being no further business to come before the Council, the special meeting was adjourned.
