RECESSED SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
April 11, 1966
7:00 p.m.
PRESENT:
Mayor McIver Furman
Mayor Pro Tem Jack R. Blackmon
Commissioners:
Dr. P. Jimenez, Jr.
Ken McDaniel
Ronnie Sizemore
Wm. H. Wallace
City Manager Herbert W. Whitney
City Attorney I. M. Singer
City Secretary T. Ray Kring
Mayor McIver Furman called the meeting to order.
City Secretary T. Ray Kring called the roll of those in attendance.
Motion by Blackmon, seconded by Sizemore and passed that the absence of
Commissioner Patrick J. Dunne be excused for cause.
Mayor Furman explained the purpose or the Recessed Special Meeting was to
make a finding as to whether or not an election would be held on the proposition of
Urban Renewal, on which a public hearing vas held April 6, 1966, and which meeting
was recessed until 7:00 p.m., April 11, 1966.
The following ordinance was presented to the Council for action:
ORDINANCE NO. 7971E
CLOSING THE HEARING ON THL+ QUESTION OF THE ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION MAKING CERTAIN
FINDINGS, DDTNOUNATIONS AND ELECTIONS UNDER AND PURSUANT TO TEE TEXAS URBAN RENEWAL
LAW; AND ORDERING AN ELECTION ON THE QUESTION OF THE ADAPTION OF SUCH RESOLUTION AS
HEREAITER SET OUT, AND SETTING A DATE THEREFOR; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
The Charter rule vas suspended and the foregoing ordinance was passed by
the following vote: Furman, Blackmon, Jimenez, McDaniel, Sizemore and Wallace,
present and voting "Aye," and Dunne absent.
There being no further business to come before the Council, the Recessed
Special Meeting was adjourned.
