MOTIONS - 11/20/01
Motion authorizing the City Manager to execute a legal services
agreement with Lowell Denton, Denton, Navarro & Bernal, to represent the
City in Larry Young, et al v. City and Mary Collins, et al v. City at an hourly
rate of $200 for shareholders, $145 for associates, and $65 for paralegals,
plus expenses, subject to appropriation and certification.

(City Charter Article IV, Sections 7 & 8)
I, the Director of Finance of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas (or his/her duly authorized
representative), hereby certify to the City Council and other appropriate officer that the money
required for the contract, agreement, obligation or expenditure described below is in the Treasury
to the credit of the Fund specified below, from which it is to be drawn, and has not been appropriated
for any other purpose.

Motion authorizing the City Manager or his designee to execute an agreement with Lowell
F. Denton as outside legal counsel regarding the case of Larry Young, et al. v. City of Corpus
Christi. Employment is necessa~_ to assist with this matter due to the com_nlexity and time
consuming nature of handling a suit with a large number of Plaintiffs as well as the dollar
amount of potential claims.
