COUNCIL CHAMBER - CITY HALL JULY 31, 1972 12 NOON PRESENT: Mayor Ronnie Sizemore Mayor Pro Tem Chas. A. Bonniwell Commissioners: Roberto Bosquez, M.D. Rev. Harold T. Branch Thomas V. Gonzales Gabe Lozano, Sr. J. Howard Stark City Manager R. Marvin Townsend City Attorney James R. Riggs City Secretary T. Ray Kring Mayor Ronnie Sizemore called the recessed meeting to order in the Council Chamber of the City Hall. City Secretary T. Ray Kring called the roll of those in attendance. City Attorney Riggs stated that he will be prepared later to make a report on the matter of litigation now pending between the City of Corpus Christi vs. San Patricio, relative to annexation of certain lands in Nueces River; and also, a report on the matter of the Water Reservoir which is in a quasi judicial hearing now before the Texas Water Rights Commission. City Manager Townsend recommended that the ordinance for appropri- ation of $36,225 for purchase of the J. R. Swantner property on Shoreline Boulevard for Corpus Christi Tourist Bureau purposes, be considered at this time. Motion by Bonniwell, seconded by Stark and passed, that the fore- going recommendation of the City Manager be concurred in and the ordinance be brought forward. ORDINANCE NO. 10999 AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR GIFT OF REAL ESTATE FROM J. R. SWANTNER, THE TERMS OF WHICH ARE SET OUT IN THE COPY OF SAID CONTRACT WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO, MARKED EXHIBIT "A", AND MADE A PART HEREOF FOR ALL PERTINENT PURPOSES; APPROPRIATING OUT OF NO. 103 TOURIST AND CONVENTION FUND THE SUM OF $36,225 FOR THE ACQUISITION OF THE PARCEL OF LAND MORE FULLY DESCRIBED IN THE SAID CONTRACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. The charter rule was suspended and the foregoing ordinance was passed by the following vote: Sizemore, Bonniwell, Bosquez, Branch, Gonzales, Lozano, and Stark, present and voting "Aye". Motion by Lozano, seconded by Stark and passed, that the meeting be further recessed, and the remaining matters appearing on the Agenda be consid- ered at 5:00 P.M. this date. There being no further business to come before the Council at this time the meeting was recessed at 12:15 P.M. July 31, 1972.
