HomeMy WebLinkAbout01700 ORD - 08/01/1944AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AHD THE CITY CONTROLLER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN SAID CITY AND CLAUD BOATRIGBT FOR TEE PURPOSE OF SERVICING AN ELEVATED RATER TANS LOCATED AT MORGAN STREET, IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, FOR A PERIOD OF TWO YEARS] AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, SECTION 1. That the Mayor and the City Controller of the City of Corpus Christi be, and they hereby are, authorized and directed to execute a contract for and on behalf of said City of Corpus Christi a contract by and between said City and Claud Boatright for the purpose of servicing an elevated water tank located at Morgan Street in the City of Corpus Christi# for a period of two yearst a copy of which contract is attached hereto and made a part hereof# and reads as follows, to -wits REPAIRING PAINTING CLAU D - B'QATRIGHT 2910 Water Street CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS SERVICING CONTRACT ON STEEL ELEVATED WATER TOWERS and STAND PIPES $200.00 PER YEAR Canary of Rueoes TO THE rt +fir r. (2) Contractor to furnish all paint and paint water tank once each year if needed. The need shall be determined by the Superintendent of the City Water Dept. (3) Metal cleaned with chipping hammer, wire brush or sand blast, then covered with one or two or three coats of paint, as said Superintendent shall require. (4) I will inspect tower or standpipe once each year and keep them free from rust and scales during the period of this contract. (5) Tank washed once each year if the City so directs. I will during the term of this contract make repairs, replace easy worn or damaged iron or steal construction on said above described tanly at an extra coat from painting contract. (6) 1 agree to furnish all labor, equipment necesaery, to perform such work. The f},ct that it is necessary to the public health and welfare for this water tank at Morgan Street in the City of Corpus Christi, to be kept in good condition and repair creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity re- quiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take affect and be in full force and effect from and after its introduction and passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY CRDAINED.
