HomeMy WebLinkAbout01702 ORD - 08/01/1944AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CONTROLLER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON BE- HALF OF SAID CITY A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN SAID CITY AND CLAUD BOATRIGHT FOR THE PURPOSE OF SERVICING AN ELEVATED WATER TANK LOCATED AT WAL ER, TEXAS, FOR .A PERIOD OF TWO YEARS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS SECTION le That the Mayor and the City Controller of - the City of Corpus Christi be, and they hereby am, authorised and directed to execute a contract for and on behalf of said City of Corpus Christi a contract by and between said City and Claud Boatright for the purpose of servicing an elevated water tank located at Calallen, Texas, for a period of two years, a copy of which contract is attached hereto and made a part hereof as follows, to -wits I �V� REPAIRING PAINTING CLAUD BGATRIGHT 2910 Water Street CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS SERVICING CONTRACT ON STEEL ELEVATED WATER TOWERS and STAND PIPES $200.00 PER YEAR Coady TO THE City of Corpus Christi GENTLEMEN: I herewith submit a contract to service your - -__ _50,004------------------------ Gallon elevated water took, located at _ Calallen'- Texas for a period of _ ?!_T'o --------------------------- years, from the data of this contract in f r tie o Tao Hundred rs a able ami•annua nsfpaiY�nte- iii'-Oae- Hugdf•ea -en 1Pof�"W- $c��as �E :ma oac�t w, e trst peymen[ to 6e due months rom ate o contract, a sernae to consist of the following items: (1) Packing of nipple, tighten tie rods, cleaning and painting top wall, run around bannister, saucer of bowl, legs, upright ladder, rotary ladder, turn buckle, bolts, rivets. spider rods, saddle, everything from ground up painted in and out. (2) Contractor to furnish all paint and paint water tank once each year if needed. The need Shell be determined by the Superintendent of the City Water Dept. (3) Metal cleaned with chipping hammer, wire brush or sand blast, then covered with one or two or three coats of paint. (4) I will inspect tower or standpipe once each year and keep them free from rust and scales during the period of this contract, as said Superintendent Shall require. (5) Tank washed once each year if the City so directs. I will during the term of this contract make repairs, replace any worn or damaged iron or steel construction on said above described tank, at an artra coat from painting contract. (6) I agree to furnish all labor, equipment necessary to perform such work. The fact that it is necessary to the public health and welfare for this wafer tank at Calallen, Texas, to be kept in good condition and repair creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its introduction and passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY ORDAINED. Texas Auguet / 1944 TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI Corpus Christi, Texas - Gentlemans For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing Ordinance& a public emergency and an im- perative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that ao ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that much ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, I, therefore hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
