WHEREAS, heretofore the Baptist Foundation of Texas
and Nueces County, Texas, and the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
did on the 18th day of Suns, 194, enter into a written contract
providing for the acquisition of a City - County Hospital site,
and providing for certain paving to be done by the City of Corpus
Christi and Nueces County, Taxes; and
WlEaZ AS, it is the desire of the parties to said contract
to Amend and Modify said original contract:

THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That the following contract by and between
the Baptist Foundation of Texas, the City of Corpus Christi and
Nueces County, Texas, be, and the same is hereby in all things
approved by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas:

VNHERdS, a sertain agreement was entered into on the 18th
day of June. 1913, between the RIPTIST POIN LION OF 1-0. a
private corporation, with its min office and place of business in
Dallas. Dallas County, Tunas, therein called FOU1WIO1. and the
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, a mmaioipal corporation of the State of Teas,
and NOR= COMM. TUAS, the »in collectively called CITY and COUNTY,
providing for the acquisition of a Ci"ounty Hospital site, and
providing for certain paving to be done by the CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
and 1"OSS COUNTY, TEXAS: and

paving to be placed on the eighty foot boulevard mentioned in said
original contract shall be tot lees than fifty feet (50') in width.

SECTION 2: That the Mayor of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, is hereby authorized to execute said contract for and
on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, and his execution thereof,
together with the attestation of the City Secretary, the affixing of
the official City seal, and the approval of the same by the City
Attorney, shall constitute a binding contract on the part of the City
of Corpus Christi in accordance with the terms and conditions in
said contract set out.
SECTION 3: The fact that it is imperative and necessary
for the health and- wellfare of the Citizens of the City of Corpus
Christi and Nueces County that all questions concerning the paving
of the streets adjacent to and used in connection with said City -
County Hospital be immediately settled creates a public emergency
and public imperative necessity, requiring the suspension of the
Charter Rule that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally
on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or Resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the
Yayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative
necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter Rule be
suspended, and that this Resolution be passed finally on the date of
its introduction, and take effect and be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, IT IS ACCOPOINGLY RE;OLVBD.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of
the foregoing Resolution, a public emergency and imperative public
necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter Rule or require-
ment that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the
date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall
be read at three several meetings of the City Council; I, therefore,
hereby request that you suspend such Charter Rule or requirement and
Pass this Resolution finally on the date it is introduced, or at the
present meeting of the City Council.
