B. Cole, W. R. Reid, W. B. Hopkins, "one Ray Mahaffey end husband P. B. Mahaffey, have petitioned i the keyor and City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, to extend, est<blish and revise certain streets and close another street hereinafter described; end, WHEREAS, the Petitioners propose the extending and establishing of certain streets, and in connection therewith the closing of one street and reducing the width of another; all of which the abutting property woners of said streets are agreeable to, and which streets as so extended, revised and closed will more adequ- ately and conveniently serve the public than as presently laid out and dedicated; end, WHEREAS, the public welfare, convenience and necessity will be better served by the extending, revising and closing such streets; end, WHEREAS, notice of the proposed extending, establishinga revising and closing of the hereinafter described streets has been given by publication x!d. by - mail to the last known address of all owners abutting said streets hereinafter de- scribed, and within 460 feet thereof, pursuant to the provisions of Section 6, Article 6, Article 2, of the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, end of the hearing to be held thereon on the Sth day of September, 1944, at 5100 P. M., end WHEREAS, in accordance with the notice given as above set forth, and under the provisions of Section 6, Article 2, of the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi& Texas, a public hearing wag held by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, at 5x00 V. M. on the 5th day of September, 1944, in the Council Chamber at the City Hall; RON. TITER FORE, BE IT ORDAINED aY THE CITY COMiCIL OF THE CITY CF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the following streets and portions thereof in the Port Aransas Cliffs Subdivision and the Paisley Subdivision of the Hoffman Tract to the City of Corpus Christi, Nuaces County, Texas, be revised, extended, established end closed, as follows, to—itt - h13IA - (a) That pert of Minnesota Avenue in Port Aransas Cliffs Subdivision extending from the West boundary of Alameda Drive to the northeast boundary of the Faisley Subdivision of the .Eoffman Tract, originally dedicated as a 200 -foot street, be, and the some is hereby, revised and reduced so as to make some an 80 -foot street by elimination there- from as a public street or for public use, 80 feet on each side of said originally dedicated 200 -foot street, except that part hereinafter declared to be part of Fort Worth and Dallas Streets, connecting with Minnesota Avenue no herewith so revised and reduced in width; and (b) extending said Minnesota Avenue, from the northeast bound- ary line of the Paisley Subdivision of the noffman Tract, as an 80 -foot street in a westerly direction, through the said Paisley Subdivision of the noffkon Tract, so as to conneotwith South Staples Street (Dump Road), as provided for in the dedication deed of E. B. Cole and Jane Ray Mahaffey and husband, F. R. Mahaffey, dated the 2nd day of Asp, 1942, and recorded in Volume 279, page 540 of the Deed Records of Nueces County, Texas; thereby making Minnesota Avenue as thus revised, reduced and extend- ed. an 80 -foot street extending from the west line of Alameda Drive, in a westerly direction to the east line of South Staples Street (Dump Road), as sh%e by p1 t t'.raof tteohed to the petition flled herein by the abutting property Owners with the City Secretary of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. That part of Dallas Street extending in a northerly direction from the Alada Rnebel Tract on the south, between Blocks 913 and 1013 of the Fort Aransas Cliffs Subdivision, be recff-_rmed erd re- established as 6 .70- foet street, as originally dedicated, and that said Dallas Street be, and the same in hereby, extended on in a northerly direc- tion as a 70 -foot street to the south bound- ary of Minnesota Avenue as herein revised and reduced. 3. That part of Fort Worth Street extending from the Alada Rnebel Tract on the south in a northerly direction, between Block. 1013 and 1113 of the port Aransas Cliffs Subdivision, be reaffirmed and re- established as a 70 -foot street, as originally dedicated, and that said Fort Worth Street be, and the some is hereby, extended on in a northerly direction as a 70 -foot street to the south boundary line of Minnesota Avenue as herein revised and reduced. That part of Waco Street between Blocks 1113 and 1213 of the Port Aransas Cliffs Subdivision, extending south from the south boundary line of Minnesota Avenue as originally dedicated, be, and the same is hereby, closed as a public street and from public use. SECTION 2. That the City of Corpus Christi hereby quitclaims any title or interest it may have in and to that part of Waco Street herein closed and the 60 feet on each side of Minnesota Avenue as revised and reduced, ex- cept that part used for extending Fort Worth Street and Dallas Street so as to connect with Minnesota Avenue as revised end reduced; and it is hereby ordered and directed that that part of said streets so closed or iliminated as public streets revert to the abutting property owners entitled to the some. SECTION 3. The fact that public oonvenieace and necessity wiii be better served by the immediate extending, establishing, revising or closing of the streets named in this Ordinance, Orestes a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no Ordinance or Resolution anall be passed £inaiiy on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three regular mestings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, end that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction, and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY ORDERED.
