AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
CONTROLLER CF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS,
TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY AN AG-
REEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
AND MYERS AND NOYES, ENGINEERS, FOR ENGINEERING
SERVICES IN CONNECTION WITH NECESSASR EXTENSIONS
AND IMPROVEMENTS IN THE SEWER SYSTEM; AND DECLAR-
ING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and the City Controller of the
City of Corpus Christi, Tease. be, and they are hereby authorized
and direoted to execute an agreement for and on behalf of said City
of Corpus Christi, by and between Were and Noyes, for engineering
services in connection with necessary extensions and improvements in
the Sewer System of the City of Corpus Christi, a copy of which con.
tract is attached hereto and made a part hereof, and reads as follows,

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 2. The fact that an effeoieat and complete sewer
system is necessary at all times for the health and welfare of
the City of Corpus Christi, and the fact that this can only be
accomplished by planning and preparing ahead of time creates a
public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no Ordi-
nance or Resolution be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction, and that said Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, in writ-
ing, having declared that said public emergency and 'imperative
necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be
suspended, and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date
of its introduction, and take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS SO ORDAINED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause
of the foregoing Ordinance, a public emergency and imperative
public necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule
or requirement that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance
or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend such
Charter rule or requirement and pass this Ordinance finally on
the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City
Council.
