HomeMy WebLinkAbout01722 ORD - 10/16/1944All ORDINANCE RECEIVING INTO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS PROPERTY PROPOSED TO BE SUBDIVIDED AND KNOWN AS SAN DIEGO ADDITION, THE SAME BEING PROPERTY AD- JOINING THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; FULLY DES- CRIBING am, SAID PROPERTY TO BE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEERW, the City of Corpus Christi and G._�. Swantner entered into an agreement on the day of s 1944. in writing to receive into the City of Corpus isti, and make certain property an integral part of the said City, according to Section 2, Article I of the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texaec NON, THEREFORE, BE IT CRDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXASs SECTION Is That the territory defined by metes and bounds as follows, to-wit; Beginning at a point in the present City limits line said point of beginning being the intersection of the north property line of Tarleton (Fifth Avenue) and the east property line of Port Avenue. THENCEs in a northwesterly direction with the north property line of Tar.etou (Fifth Avenue) extended to its intersection with the east property line of Niagara Street extended; THENCE, in a southwesterly direction with the extension of the east property line of Niagara Street to its inter- section with the north property line of Lot 6s Block G of the Paisley Subdivision of the Hoffman Tracty THENCEm in a northwesterly direction with the north property line of Lot 6, Block G of the Paisley Subdiv- ision of the Roffman Tract to the ncrthwest corner of said lot 6. THENCE, in a southwesterly direction with the west property line of lot 6, Block G of the Paisley Subdiv- ision of the Hoffman Tract, to the southwast corner of said lot 6s THENCE, in a southeasterly direction with the south . property line of Lot 6, Block G of the Paisley Sub- division of the Hoffman Tract to the southeast corner of said Lot 6. - THENCE, in a northeasterly direction with the east Property line of Lot 6, Block G of the Paisley Sub- division of the Hoffman Tract to its intersection with the west property- line of Fort Avenue* TFH;NCEs in a northerly direction along the west property line of Port Avenue to its interseotion with the north property line of Lot 6, Block G, Paisley subdivision of the Hoffman Tracts THENCE, in a southeasterly direction with the north property line of Lot 6, Block G Paisley Subdivision of the Hoffman Tract crossing Port, Avenue to its intersection with the east prcperty line of Port Avemue_ T,IMTCE, in a northeasterly direction with a line that is at right angles with the north property line of Lot 6, Block G of the Paisley Subdivision of the Hoffman Tract 'to its intersection with the north property line of Tarleton (Fifth Avenue) . THENCE, in a ncrtbnesterly direction with the present City Limits line same being the north property line of Tarleton (Fifth Avenue) to its intersection with the east property line of Fort Avenue and the place of beginning. be and the same is hereby admitted into the City of Corpus Christi as an integral part thereof, and said territory shall heraa:"ter be a part of the City of Corpus Christi, subject to the general laws of the State of Texas, the City Charter, and the Ordinances, Resolutions and Motions of the City of Corpus Christi, SECTION IIe That the property owner of the above described property desires to subdivide said property and provide additional housing facilities by development of such property and give such property adequate access to public utilities and police and fire pro- tection immediately, creates a public emergency and imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no Ordinance or Resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and that said Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Couacil; and the Mayor, in writing, having declared that said Charter rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance take effect and be in full force -2- and effect from and after its passage. City of Corpus Christi, Texas ATTEST: City Secretary APPROVED AS TO LEGAL FORM: .City Attorney _ Corpus Christi, Texas &;V / 6. 1944 TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemeat For the reasons set forth in the urgency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and an im- perative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinate or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be reed at three several meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this Ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
