AN ORDINANCE
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
CONTROLLER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS,
TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY, A
LEASE CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI AND EASTERN AIR LIKES INC., FOR TEE LEASING
OF ADDITIONAL SPACE AT THE CLIFF MAUS AIRPORT AND
BEING A SUPPLEMENT TO LEASE CONTRACT No. 611, DATED
AUGUST 3RD, 194N BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
AND EASTERN AIR LINES INC.; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS
SECTION le That the Mayor and the City Controller
of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be and they hereby are.
authorized and directed to execute a lease contract by and between
the City of Corpus Christi and Eastern Air Lines Inc., for the
leasing of additional space at the Cliff Maus Airport and being
a supplement to lease contract No. 611 in the City files. dated
August 3rd, 1943, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a
part hereof and reads as follows, to -wit,

SECTION 2. The fact that it is to the best interests
of the public and the City of Corpus Christi to have effeoient
operation of eosmercial airlinesm and that this lease is- necessary
to secure offecient operation and service from Eastern Sir Lines
Inc, creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no Ordinance or
Resolutiou shall be passed finally on the date it Is introduced,
and that suoh Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three,
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared
that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and hav-
ing requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this
Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and
tale effect end be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY OBDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause
of the foregoing Ordinance, a public emergency and imperar
tive necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule
or requirement that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance
or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council= I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend
such Charter rule or requirement and pass this Ordinance finally
an the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
