HomeMy WebLinkAbout01743 ORD - 12/01/194412/1/41; HTsm 0 A RESOLUTION _ AIITHORIZIRG AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY, AN AGREEMENT WITH GUARANTY TITLE AND TRUST COMPANY, EDWIN F. FLATO, MRS. CLARA DRISCOLL, GLOVER JOHNS, W. B. RUSS, J. R. LOCKE AND MRS. BRENT LOCXE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Guaranty Title and Trust Company, a corporation, Glover Johns Edwin F. Flato, Mrs. Clara Driscoll, W. B. Russ, J. R. Locke and Mra. Brent Locke are the owners in fee simple of the property des- cribed herein which adjoins the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and WHEREAS, there are no resident voters within the area des - oribed; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, deems it advisable to incorporate such property within the corporate limits of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and said.Council deems it to be in the best interest of the said City of Corpus Christi, Texas, that such property be so incorporated; and - WHEREAS, such territory, when so admitted into the City, shall bear its proportionate part of all taxes levied by the City and its inhabitants shall have all of the privileges and be subject to all of the duties of the other inhabitants of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 1. That the Mayor of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute, for end on behalf of said City of Corpus Christi, Texas, an agreement with Guaranty Title and Trust Company, a corporation, Mrs. Clara Driscoll, a fame sole, Edwin f;4 F. Plato, Glover Johns, W. B. Ruse, J. R. Locke and Mrs. Brent R. The public importance of this Resolution creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter Rule be suspended, and that this Resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS, ACCORDINGLY, SO RESOLVED. For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing Resolution, a public emergency and an imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter Rule or require- ment that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, I, there- fore, hereby request that you suspend said Cbarter Rule or require- ment and pass this Resolution finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
