City Council of the City of Carpus Christi passed an Ordinance calling
an election to be held within the City a. Corpus Christi on the 23th
day of December, 19", on the proposition of determining - hether or
not the territory described in suc;: Ordinance should be admitted to
the City of Cerp,:s Christi, Texas, and Whether or not the City should
assume the bonded indebtedness in flat rates wing to such water control
and improvement district in the territory proposed to be annexed, and
a tea• to be levied and collected an all the property vriti:in the C
limits sufficient +,o pay off and discharge said bonded indebtedness
and flat rates, said questions to be submitted to the legally qualifiod,
taxpaying voters residing in the City of Corpus Christi, t,.0 territory

It is the intent of these field notes to include all
of Eueces County Plater Improvement District 1:c. 1, as
establishad by the aforesaid .Act, and a portion of Corpus
Christi Bay adjacent thereto, and a strip of land being
the South Wulf of Chamberlin Street, as shozn on the re-
corded map of Port Aransas Cliffs %ddition betxsen the
center line of Santa Fe Street and the East line of
_Austin Street.

SEC^ :IMT 1. That the ret,i -ns of the election held on
Deaenber 2% 19414, within the twenty (20) election preoincts herein -
above set out, each and all of which are within the City limits of
the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be, and the sar,.e are, hareby received,
and are hereby- canvassed and the results o; said election are hereby
declared to be that t:,e majority of the legally qualified, property
taxpaying voters, voting in said eL ction, favored the annexation. of
the territory hereinabovo desoribed adjacer_t to the City of Corpus
`-�hristi, and haeir& therein a water central and improvement district,
and the aasumpticn by the City of all bonded indebtedness and flat
rates ovring tc sucn water control and improvement district in the
territory to be anaexed,and the levying and collecting of a tax on all
property within the City 1i.:1ts sufficient to pa; of" and discharge
said bonded indebtedness and flat rates; and the said vote, and the
record thereof, as shewiug said majority cote in favor of the annexa-
tion of such territory and assumption of the bonded indebtedness, is
hereby race a matter of record pending the further determination o£ the
other ratters set Forth in said Crdinanco o£ December 2, 19f.;, and
.ending the :further action o£ vne Ci-„y Council of the City of Corpus
Christi, Taxes.
SLCTIOU 2. The fact the + . it is importm t to the residents
of the territory proposed to be annexed and to the residents of the
City of Corpus Christi that an inzediate record be rade of the results
of the election held December 28, 1944, so that adegaate prevision may
be made paneling the annexation of said territory creating a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring -the suspension
of the Charter rule providing that no Crdinance or Resolution shall be
passed finally on the date it is introduced and tha +, such Ordinance
or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and
imperative necessity exist, and - having requested that said Charter
rule be suspended and that this Ordinance ta::e effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS, AGC0DI17OLY, SO

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency
clause of the foregoing Ordinance, a public emergency and
imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter
rule or requirement that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be
passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such
Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meet-
ings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend such Charter rule or requirement and pass this
Ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the
present meeting of the City Council.
