A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CONTROLLER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI. TO EXECUTE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AN
ARCHITECT'S CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND JAMS
P. GIBSON, WILLIAM C. WOOD, AND HENRY H.
WADE, ASSOCIATED ARCHITECTS; AND DECLAR-
ING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Controller of the
City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be, and they are hereby, authorised
and directed to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus
Christi, an architect's contract by and between the City of Corpus
Christi and James P. Gibson, William C. Wood, and Henry H. Wade,
Associated Architects, a copy of which architect's contract is
attached hereto and reads as follows, to -wit:

SECTION 2. That the Amount to be paid to the said
Associated Architeots under the foregoing contraots shall be paid
from the funds now on hand whioh are the proceeds of the certain
bond issue known as Civilian Defense Emergency Bonds, Series 1942,
which said funds were authorised to be spent for the purpose of
erecting "An Emergency Disaster Center" by an election duly held
on December 2, 1944, in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 3. The fact that the City of Corpus Christi
has inadequate facilities for hospitalisation and inadequate
facilities for oaring for the equipment of the local organization
of the Texas Defense Guard, and there is a need for an emergency
recreational center in the City of Corpus Christi, and the further
fact that the buildings contemplated to be erected in the foregoing
contract is for an Emergency Disaster Center and will meet the
present lack of facilities and that it is essential to the protection
and safety of the inhabitants of the City of Corpus Christi that such
facilities be provided, creates a public emergency and an imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule or
requirement that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally
on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the
Mayor, in writing, having declared that such public emergency and
imperative necessity exist, end having requested that such Charter rule
be suspended and that this Resolution be passed finally on the date
it is introduced and take effect and be in fhll force and effect
from and after its passage, IT IS, ACCORDINGLY, SO RESOLVED.

therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or
requirement and pass this Resolution finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
