SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Controller of the City oP

oute a presentation to the Board of WA;er Engineers of the State
of Teals to secure the per- dBsion from said Board to investigate
the feasibility of building a second dam on the Nueose River near

represents to the Hoard of Rater Engineers for the State of Texas, that
It desires to investigate the feasibility of a project here-
inafter more definitely defined, having for its object the appropriation
and beneficial use of water in quantities greater than twenty thousand acre -
feet storage, or fifty second feet diversion, or for generation of two thousand
hydro- slootric horsepower, and represents and shows that said Bite has
an organized engineering force, adequate to proceed in an expeditious manner

We hereby make this presentation, and accompany same with a deposit
Of Two hundred and fifty (8250.00) Dollars, in conformity with the require-
ments of Section 16, et, seq. Chapter 88, General lawn, Regular Session of
the 35th Legislature of the State of Texas, 1917, as emended by Senate Hill
No. 349, passed by the 39th Legislature, State of Texas, at its Regular

• SECTION 2. The fact that it grill be of great benefit to the
City of Corpus Christi, Terre, that additional eater be made avail-
able to the City, and that there is a need for additiowtater to be
secured, and that to insane ouch additional eater supply, it will
be necessary to build an additional dam across the Nueces River
near Mathis, Texas, creates a public emergency and imperative
public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule or
requirement that no Ordinance or Resolution shell be passed finally
on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution
sball be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the
Mayor having deoiarad in writing that each public emergency and
imperative necessity exist, and laving requested chat such Charter
rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the
date of its introduction and take effect end be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, IT IS, ACCORD114O18, SO OBDAIIIIISD.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and an imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shell be read at
three several meetings or the City Counoilj I, therefore. hereby
request that you suspend sad Charter rule or requirement and pass
this @ dinanoe finally on the date it is introduced, or at the
present meeting of the City Council.
