members of the City Council
of Corpus Christi Texas
Gentlemen;
Ajyou of course know it is
required of City Council that some newspaper
of general circulation, entered as second
class mail matter at the Corpus Christi
postoffice be named as the official organ of
Corpus Christi for the purpose of pri #ting
all legal notices of City of CorpW
Christi.
Prior to 1937 a local daily newspaper
secured all such printing without submitting
an offer.
In 1937 City Council designated
Corpus Christi Press as the official'organ and
for the four ensuing years this paper was the
official organ saving the citybof eorpis
Christi in excess of $3,000 as compared with
rates paid before 1937.
Since 1941 The Press has not been
permitted to make an offer and the city at this

printing of city legal notices. The present
contract went out when a new council was
inaggarted last April 10,1945
Corpus Christi Press which answers all
legal requirements submits the following offer;
We will print all city legal notices
for a period of one year, printing same in clear
readable eight point type, same as used in our
regular reading matter at the following prices;

be and the same is hereby accepted, and the Mayor of the City of
Corpus Christi is hereby authorized to execute the acceptance
of such proposal.
SECTION 2. That the Corpus Christi Press is hereby
designated as the official newspaper of the City of Corpus Christi
for a period of one year, beginning May is 1945-
SECTION 3. THE public importance of this ardinance
creates a public emergency and imperative pablio necessity requiring
the auspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no Ordinance
or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced,
and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Counoil, and the Mayor having declared
in writing that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist.
and having requested that each Charter rule be suspended, asd that
this Ordisanoa be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, IT IS, ACCCRD=kZ, SO OBDMMRD.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause
of the foregoing Ordinance, a publio emergency and an impera-
tive neceasity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule
or regairemoat that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced and that such Ordinance
or Resolution shall to read at three several meetings of the
City Councils I, therefore, hereby request that yea suspend
said Charter role or requirement and pass this Ordinance finally
on the date it is. introduced, or at the present meeting or the
City Council.
