CLOSING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF MESTINA,
THERESA, PIERFONT AND LIPAN STREETS
IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS,
AND 4UITCLAIMING ALL TITLE OR INTEREST
IN AND THERETO; AND DECLARING AN EMER-
GENCY.
WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Independent School Dis-
trict and Dr. Harry G. Heaney, have petitioned the Mayor and
City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, to close por-
tions of certain streets hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, notice of the proposed closing of portions of
the hereinafter described streets have been given by publication
ana by mail to the last known address of all property owners
abutting said portions of said streets requested to be closed,
and within 450 feet thereof, pursuant to the provisions of Sec-
tion 6, Article 2, of the City Charter of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, and of the hearing to be held thereon on the 15th
day of May, 1945, at 5:00 P.M.; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the notice given as above
set forth, and under the provisions of Section 6, Article 2, of
the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a public
hearing was held by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, at 5:00 P.M. on the 15th day of May, 1945, in the Council
Chamber at the City Hall; and
WHEREAS, at such public hearing it was established that
the public welfare, convenience and necessity will be better
served by closing such portions of said streets. .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the following streets and portions thereof
In the Seven Oaks Addition and the Barthlome Addition to the City
of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, be, and the same are here-
by closed, to -wit:.

(a) Theresa Street from the South boundary
of Leopard St, to the North boundary of
Mestina St. (a distance of approximately
135 feet);
(b) Mestina St. from the West boundary of Fisher
St., formerly Palmer St., to the East boundary
of Pierpont St., (a distance of approximate-
- ly 600 feet) ;;
(c) Lipan St. from the West boundary of Pier-
pont St, to the East boundary of Rose St.,'
(a distance of approximately 184.19 feet);
(d) Pierpont St. from the South boundary of
Mestina St. to the North boundary of the
Upriver or Shell Rced, sometimes called
Calallen Road, (a distance of approximate-
ly 582.49 feet);
(e) Lipan St. from the East boundary of Pier-
pont St. to the West boundary of Fisher
St., formerly Palmer St., (a distance of
approximately 600 feet);
(f) Theresa St. from the South boundary of
Lipan St. to the North boundary of the
Upriver or Shell Road, sometimes called
Calallen Road, (a distance of approximate-
ly 106.55 feet).
SECTION 2. That the City of Corpus Chriati hereby quit--
claims to the respective abutting property owners, all title
or interest said City may have in and to those portions of
said streets hereby closed, as described In Section 1 hereof.

SEECTION 3. The fact that public convenience and necessity
will be better served by the immediate closing of the portions
of the streets named and described in Section 1 of this Ordinance,
creates a public emergency and public-imperative necessity re-
quiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no Ordinance or
Resolutions shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced,
and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three
regular meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having de.
clared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist,
and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and
that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its intro-
duction, and take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY ORDERED.

GENTLEMEN:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency
clause of the foregoing Ordinance, a public emergency
and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of
the Charter rule or requirement that no Ordinance or Reso-
lution shall be passed finally on the date it is intro-
duced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be
reed at three meetings of the City Council. I there-
foe, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule
or requirement and pass this Ordinance finally on the
date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
