HomeMy WebLinkAbout01821 ORD - 07/24/1945AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING TEE RECO13=10ATI0N AND REPORT OF THE CITY PLANNING AND ZONING COMSSION RELA- TIVE TO CBANGIM THE MO=, ADDITION TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, FROM A "DNELL- IIIG A" CLASSIFIO4TION TO A "DWELLING B" CLASS- IFICATION; DIRECTING THAT A PUBLIC HEARING BE HELD ON THE 14th DAY OF AUGUST, 1945, BY THE CITY COUNCIL IN REGARD TO SAID PROPOSED CHANCE; DIRECTING THAT NOTICE OF SAID BEARING BE GIPEN AS REgUIRED BY LAW; AND DECLARING All 'N ERGENCY. WHERBAS, the City Planning and Zoning Comission has reported to the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, that it is advisable to change the present zoning classification of the Midway Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, from a "Dwelling A" - classification to a "Dwelling B" classification, and has recommended that such change be made; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. Section 1. That the report and recommendation of the City Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, { that the Midway Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be changed from a "Dwelling A" classification to a "Dwelling B" classi- fication and that such area be zoned for "Dwelling B" uses, in accord - once with Zoning Ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, as amanded March 5, 1942, be, and the same is hereby, acoepted. Section 2. That a public hearing be held in the City Council Chamber in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, on the 14th day of August, 1945, at 3:30 o'clock p.m., at which hearing all parties at interest and citizens of Corpus Christi shall he" an opportunity to be heard on the proposed change in said zoning, as recommended in said report. Section 3. That the I&yor of the City of Corpus Christi is- hereby authorized to publish as official notice of said hearing in the Corpus Christi Press, official publication of the City of Corpus Christi on July 26, August 2, and August 9, 1945. section 4. The fact that there is now contemplated the build- ing of homes in the above area which will aid materially in reducing /82/ the present housing shortage in the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolu- tion shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be sus- pended, and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and take effect immediately and be in full force and ef- ' feet from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDDTGLY SO ORDA11M. OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing Ordinance, a public emergency and an imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this Ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
