General This project consists of the construction of paving around the Administration Building at the Municipal Air Port. Adequacy of Eguinmentt All equipment for the project or directly affecting material entering into the work shall be adequate to do the work for whioh it is called upon."ehall be in first class working and producing con- dition, and shall be acceptable to the Engineer.- Equipment vh ioh, through failure, would affect the strength and stability-of the work, shall be supplemented by stand -by equipments this applies in particular to concrete producing equipmente concrete placing equipment, truaks, vibrators, pumping equipment,, Toole used on the work shall be standard for the duty required and in good condition. More sewer, water, gas pipes or other public utilities are snoountered► they shall be protected by the Contractor who will be responsible for crossing them in such a manner as not to cause damage. Any damages ocouring because of thu Contraotor'e work will be repaired by the utility company affeoted, at the Contraotor's expense. Where such utilities are.encountered and are required to be removed or relooated because of the worko the moving or shifting of the same will be done by the owner's forces at his expense. The Contractor shall so arrange his work that the Owner's foroa- may do such work at a minimum of cost, and shall give the Owner sufficient advan as notice of the work to be done, that a minimum of delay will occur to both the Contractor and the owner. The Owner will handle such work as promptly as his forces will permit, and Contractor will be allowed no olaims due to delay of the Owner in completing the work necessary. 6. FLEXIBLE BASE The base course shall be constructed of Caliohe, and shall be constructed as herein specified, in conformity with the typical sections, lines and grades as shown on the plans or as established by the Engineer. 2. The material shall consist of 'Caliohe* and shall be approved by the Engineer, prior to delivery on the project; it shall meet the following requirements: Passing 2 inch screen 100 % Retained on #40 Mesh Sieve -50 -to -85 % The material passing the 40 Mesh Sieve shall be known as soil builder and shall meet the following requirements: The Liquid Limit shall not exceed 45 % The Plasticity Index shall not exceed 15 % The Linear Shrinkage shall not exceed 8 % 3. The work shall be performed under'the direction of the Engineer, and traffic to and from the Administration Building shall be provided for by the Contractor. The material shall be delivered in approved trucks or vehicles of uniform capacity and it shall be the Contractors responsibility that the re- quired amount of material shall be delivered to each square yard; the material shall be spread and compacted by the use of blades,mmaintainers, drags or rollers, or other suitable equipment, The water for setting up the base course will be f4:rnished the Contractor, without charge, at the Air -Port. .
