LEVYING AN ANNUAL TAX ON ALL PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS SUFFICIENT TO
PAY ALL INTEREST AND CREATE A SINKING.
FUND OF TWO PERCENT ANNUALLY ON THE
BONDS OF NUECES COUNTY WATER IMOVE-
P -OTT DISTRICT NO. 1; PROVIDING THAT
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ASSUMES
AND AGREES TO PAY SAID.BONDS WHEN THEY
BECOhM DUE;,PROVIDING.THAT ALL PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES AND ASSETS OF SAID WATER
DISTRICT ARE VESTED IPi THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI AND DIRECTING THE PROPER '
OFFICERS TO TAKE POSSESSION THEREOF AIM
GIVE TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS PROPER .
RECEIPTS AND ACQUITTANCE THEREFOR; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, on December 29, 1914, the City Council of the City of
Corpus Christi did pass an Ordinance annexing the territory comprising
Nueces County Slater Improvement District Plumber One to the City of Corpus
Christi; and
WHEREAS, on.December 28, 19�4, prior thereto, a majority of the

legally - qualified property taxpaying voters residing within the territorial '
limits of said City voting at an election duly and regularly called there-
for, did vote for the assumption of the bonded indebtedness of such water
improvement district and the levy and collection of a tax on all property
within the city limits sufficient to pay off and discharge said bonded
indebtedness;.and ~
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi wishes to make a valid assump-
tion of the bonded indebtedness of said District as same becomes hereafter 'S*A
due and payable until all of said bonds and the interest thereon are fully
paid, and to assume possession and control of the physical properties here-
tofore belonging to said District,as well as all moneys in its sinking fund
for the payment of said bonded indebtedness; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY TIM CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI: _-

SECTION 1. That there is hereby levied annually on all property
within the city limits a tax sufficient to pay all interest and create
a sinking fund of two per cent annually on the bonds of Plueces County
Water Improvement District Plumber One, dated October 14, 1929, and
maturing as follovrs:

SECTION 2. That the City of Corpus Christi hereby assumes and
agrees to pay as same shall become due unto said Nueces County Water
Improvement District Number One, or to the holders of said bonds, all
principal and interest thereon as it becomes due according to the terms
and provisions of said bonds and the proceedings for their issue.
SECTION 3. That all physical properties belonging to Nueces
County Water Improvement District Number One, as well as all delinquent
taxes for the years 1944 and prior thereto, and all moneys belonging to
any sinking fund created to pay its bonded indebtedness and interest
thereon, are hereby vested in the City of Corpus Christi, in fee simple,
and the proper officers are directed to take possession thereof and to
give to the Hoard of Directors proper receipts and acquittance therefor.
SECTION 4. The fact that it is necessary for the welfare of the
citizens of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Per the orderly conduct of govern-
ment of the territory formerly included in said water district that a tax
be levied and the physical assets of said water district be delivered
creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring
the suspension of the Charter rule providing that no Ordinance or Resolu-
tion shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such
Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council, and the Mayor having requested that said Charter rule be suspended
and that this Ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDIUGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing.Ordinance, a public emergency and an imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, I, therefore, hereby
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass
this Ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present
meeting of the City Council.
The Charter rule was suspended by the following vote:
