APPROVED BY TEE CITY ZONING AND
PLANNING COMMISSION AND THE STATE
HIGHWAY COMMISSION SHOWING WIDEN-
. ING OF AGNES STREET FROM XING STREET
TO PORT AVENUE, AND ESRARLISHING

AIM DECLARING AN M ERGENCY.
WHEREAS, Agnes Street is fast becoming one of the main thorough -
`fares in the City of Corpus Christi, and the improvement and widening of
said street is of vital importance to the proper handling of traffic in
and out of the City of Corpus Christi to State Highway No. 44; and
WHEREAS, the widening of said street necessitates the immediate
u establishment of new building lines that will prevent expensive building
encroaching upon territory that is to be included in the street when
widened, which building would increase the burden of expense upon the
City in se Wring Y'uture rights- cfwvay foe the streets and E
WHEREAS, the City Engineer of the City of Corpus Christi bas
prepared and submitted to the Council a map showing the proposed improve-
ments of said street, which map has been approved by the City Zoning and
Plan„> Commission and the State Highway Commission, and which map is gt-
tached hereto and marked "Exhibit A ":
- NOR, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED By THE My COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISM
SECTION 1. That the building lines for Agnes Street from the West
property line of King Street to the East properly lino of Pert Avenue, shown
• on the map attached Hereto as "Exhibit Y ", be, and they am hereby approved
and e4opted as the building lines on said street at the locations shown on
said map and from and effter the date of this Ordinance, building encroaching
upon said lines is forbidden.
SECTION 2. The fact that the public convenience and safety of
the public and the necessity of the people of the City of Corpus Christi re-
quire immediate widening of Agnes Street and the fact that the prevention of

of further erection of buildings encroaohing upon the territory to be in-
cluded in the thoroughfare when widened is necessary to save the City from
additional burden of expense in securing rights -of -way, create a public
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter rule or requirement that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be
passed finally on the date of its introduction, and that said Ordinance
or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor having declared that such emergency and public imperative
necessity exist, and requested that said Charter rule be suspended and
that this Ordinance be passed finally on'the date of its introduction;
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing Ordinance, a public emergency and an imperative necessity
' exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed Finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such Ordinate or Resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council; I. therefore, hereby
request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass
thin Ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the pre-
sent meeting of the City Council.
