Acuff Commissioners: Rev. Harold T. Branch Thomas V. Gonzales Ricardo Gonzalez J. Howard Stark City Manager R. Marvin Townsend Assistant City Attorney Bob Coffin City Secretary Bill G. Read Mayor Pro Tem James T. Acuff called the meeting to order in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, stating the purpose of the Special Meeting was to hold public hearings on zoning applications and any other business as may properly come before the Council. Mayor Pro Tem Acuff explained that the three cases scheduled for this hearing at this time are all subject to the 20 percent rule, and since there are only four members of the Council present, and after consulting with attorneys representing the property owners, it would be his recommendation that the hearings on these applications be recessed for a future date when all members of the Council are present to hear arguments from both sides. He suggested the date of September 25, 1974 at 3:00 p.m. Mr. John F. Nicholson, 221 Oak Ridge, stated he owns property at 3801 Waldron Field Road which is presently zoned Primary Business District and he planned to start a business in Flour Bluff contingent on the outcome of this hearing. He urged the Council to proceed with the hearing as scheduled. Mr. Jon Held, developer, stated the 180 acres which he owns is one of the critical areas in question and asked the Council to consider a suggestion made by the Chairman of the Planning Commission for creation of a "residential estate" zone which would allow only one home per acre on the land in question. He stated this plan would be acceptable to him. Motion by Tom Gonzales, seconded by Branch and passed, that the public hearing on Application 4C674-4, City of Corpus Christi, for change of zoning from "R -1B" One -family Dwelling District and "I-1" Travel Trailer Park, Mobile Home Park and Mobile Home Subdivision District, to "I-2" Light Industrial District, on Lots 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, 20, 21 and 22, Section 47; portions of Lots 2 thru 8, Section 56; all out of Flour Bluff & Encinal Farm & Garden Tracts; and Lot 1, Block 1, Skipper Addition, be recessed until September 25, 1974, at 3:00 p.m. • Minutes Special Council Meeting August 28, 1974 Page 2 • Motion by Stark, seconded by Ricardo Gonzalez and passed, that the public hearing on Application #C674-5, City of Corpus Christi, for change of zoning from One -family Dwelling District and "A-1" Apartment House District, to "F -R" Farm -Rural District on Lots 13 thru 24, and Lot 32, Section 39; Lot 22, Section 51; Lots 1 thru 6, 15, 16 and 17, Section 52; Lots 28 thru 30, Section 53; all out of Flour Bluff & Encinal Farm & Garden Tracts; Lot 1 and Lots 5 thru 8, Yorkwald Acres, be recessed until SEptember 25, 1974, at 3:00 p.m. Motion by Ricardo Gonzalez, seconded by Tom Gonzales and passed, that the public hearing on Application #474-11, City of Corpus Christi, for change of zoning from "R -1B" One -family Dwelling District to "I-2" Light Industrial District, on the following; Tract A, (43.47 acre portion of Lots 3 and 4, Section 7, Bohemian Colony Lands); Tract B, (a portion of Lots 5 and 6, and all of Lots 3 and 4, Section 8, and Lot 5, Section 9, Bohemian Colony Lands); Tract C, (a 13.0 acre portion of Lot 8, Section 12, Bohemian Colony Lands); and Tract D, (a 70.46 acre portion of Lots 1 and 2, Section 13, Bohemian Colony Lands), be recessed until September 25, 1974 at 3:00 p.m. City Manager Townsend announced that notices of the recessed hearing date would be sent to the affected landowners. There being no further business to come before the Council, motion by Ricardo Gonzalez, seconded by Stark and passed, that the meeting of August 28, 1974, be recessed until. September 25, 1974 at 3:00 p.m.
