HomeMy WebLinkAbout02019 ORD - 01/14/1947AN ORDINANCE 1Y o, Z o 19 AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AND BAUM AND SMITH FOR TEE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN IM- PROVEMENTS DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: BAYFRONT STORM PRO- TECTION CONCRETE CORE WALL ON NORTH AND SOUTH BREAK - WATERS; APPROPRIATING MONEY FOR SUCH PURPOSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY," AND BEING ORDINANCE NO. 2013, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ON THE 7TH DAY OF JANUARY, A. D., 1947, BY MAKING CERTAIN CHANGES IN SECTION I THEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, by ordinance dated January 7, 1947, passed and approved an ordinance authorizing and directing the City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi to execute a contract by and between the City of Corpus Christi and Bauer and Smith for the construotion of bayfront storm pro- tection concrete core wall on north and south breakwaters; and WHEREAS, the writing of the name Bauer and Smith was a clerical error, no bid having been submitted under such name but a bid having been submitted under the name of Bauer -Smith Dredging Company, Inc., the full and proper name of the concern to whom such contract was awarded, said concern's bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City; and WHEREAS, it is deemed by the City Council necessary to make an amendment to Section 1 of said ordinance in order that the proper name of the contractor will appear, and in order that the oontract might be more effective and practical insofar as the general publicis welfare is concerned; NOOP, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SEDTION 1. That Ordinance No. 2013, passed and approved by the City Counoil of the City of Corpus Christi, on the 7th day of January, A. D., 1947, and recorded in Volume 15, Page 240, of the Ordinance and Resolution Records of the City of Corpus Christi, and entitled: 2019 Corpus Christi, Texas January 14, 1947 TO TSE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemena For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
