APPROPRIATING MONEY FROM STREET FUND NO. 108 FOR THE
PURPOSE OF PAYING AMOUNT DUE ON CONTRACT !MH JOHN D.
MCCALL FOR SERVICES RENDERED IN CONNECTION WITH CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, STREET 1haIROVEMENT BONDS,
SERIES 1946, x'350,000.00; AND DECLARING AN E1,7,RGENCY.
YaIEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, on the 2nd day of
October, A. D., 1946, entered into a contract with John D. McCall of
Dallas County, Texas, wherein said John D. McCall agreed to perform certain
services for the City of Corpus Christi, same being legal and counsellor
services in connection with preparation of all instruments, printing of
bonds, and securing approval of the bonds by proper authorities for Street
Improvement Bonds, Series 1946, in the amount of t,350,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, agreed to pay said
John D. McCall for such services the sum of TWO THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS
($2,100.00); and
WHEREAS, said services have been performed by said John D.
McCall according to said contract and said money is now due and owing
said John D. McCall and should be paid; and
iVHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the Street Fund No. 108,
which is now unencumbered and which funds are available for this purpose;
NOVP, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION I. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of TWO
THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,100.00) from the Street Fund No. 108,
which money is to be used to pay the said John D. McCall the sum of TWO
THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS (t2,100.00) due and owing him under the terms
of the contract above mentioned.
SECTION II. The fact that all services have been performed under
the contract with John D. McCall and that the said money to be paid under
said contract is past due and owing said John D. McCall creates a public
emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having
declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist,
and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that
this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.

Gentle men;
I have examined the account and fund from which the
appropriation is made, as provided for in the ordinance attached
hereto, and I do certify that the money required for such appropri-
ation is in the Treasury to the credit of the fund from which such
appropriation is to be drawn, and that there are monies in such fund
which are not appropriated for any other purpose and which are avail-
able at this time.
