APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM IF'—' GENERAL FUND NO. 102 TO
INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF FUNDS OF PARK DEPARTMENT UNDER
BUDGET ITEM, CAPITAL OUTLAY "LAND AND BUILDINGS," AND
AUTHORIZING SAID FMTND�E USED FOR PURCHASING LAND
FOR PARK PURPOSES; AND DECL@RING AN AERGENCY.
AHEREAS, at present there is not sufficient park accommodations
in the vicinity of D. N. Leathers Center, along v nnebago Street in this
city; and
-MMAS, a park is needed in said vioinity for the use of the
residents of this city; and
YMREAS, the City Council has determined that a park should be
constructed on the following land, to�wito
Being an irregular tract of land out of the south portion
of the Salt Lake Tract, and being more particularly described
as follows:
Beginning at a point in the center line of Lake Street, and
in the west boundary line of Clarkson Addition, an addition
to the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, for a
corner of this tract. Said point being also in the east
boundary line of the Salt Lake Tract.
Thence south 090 38' 40" west along the west boundary line of
Clarkson Addition, a distance of 290.0 feet for a corner
of this tract. Said point being in the north boundary line
of Block A, Diaz Addition.
Thence north 890 04' 20" west along the north boundary line of
Block A, Diaz Addition, a distance of 315.30 feet for a
corner of this tract.
Thence south 180 49, west along the west boundary line of Block
A, Diaz Addition, a distance of 73.39 feet for a corner of
this tract.
Thence north 670 00' west a distance of 188.89 feet for a corner
of this tract.
Thence north 000 30' east along the east boundary line of Lots
13 and 12, Block 20, Craven Heights Addition, a distance of
168.61 feet to a point in the north boundary line of Lots 7,
8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, Block 20, Craven Heights Addition, for
a corner of this tract.
Thence north 600 28' 30" west along the north boundary line of
Lot 12, Block 20, Craven Heights addition, a distance of 29.77
feet for a corner of this tract. Said point being also the
northwest corner of Lotl2, Block 20, Craven Heights Addition.
Thence north 2p0 31' 30" east along the east boundary line of
Lot 5 and its extension, Block 20, Craven Heights Addition, a
distance of 172.89 for a corner of this tract.

Thence S 830 28, east a distance of 503.17 feet to the place
of beginning.
Containing 3.983 acres more or less.
All of the above tract being located in the City of Corpus
Christi, Nueces County, Texas.
IVEMAS, said land can be purchased from Guaranty Title & Trust
Company, Trustee for W. E. Pope Estate,for the sum of $2,987.25; and
VnMREAS, there are sufficient funds, same being unappropriated
revenues, in the General Fund No. 102, vhich is now unencumbered and which
funds are now available for this purpose;
NON, THEREFORE, HE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORFUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION I. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of
$2,987.25,from unappropriated revenues in the General Fund No. 102, to
increase the funds of the Park Department, under budget item Capital Outlay
"Land and Buildings," and said $2 }987.25 is hereby transferred to funds of
the Park Department, under budget item Capital Outlay "Land and Buildings,"
which money in the sum of 42,987.25 is to be used for the purpose of pur-
chasing the above described land to be used for park purposes.
SECTICN II. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
to purchase the above described 3.983 acre tract to be used for park
purposes.
SECTION III. The fact that there are not sufficient park facili-
ties in the vicinity herein above mentioned, and that such park is badly
needed at this time, and the fact that land must be purchased in order to
secure a site for a proper park, create a public emergency and public
imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency
and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule
be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its
introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and
after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen;
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I. therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.

Gentlemen:
I have examined the account and fund from which the
appropriation is made, as provided for in the ordinanop attached
hereto, and I do certify that the money required for such appro-
priation is in the Treasury to -the credit of the fund from which
such appropriation is to be drawn, and that there are monies in
such fund which are not appropriated for any other purpose and
which are available at this time.
