DePUY AND E. D. DePUY, A PARTNERSHIP,.FOR THE CON- STRUCTION OF CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS: BAYFRONT PROTECTION AND STORY WATER CONTROL; APPROPRI- ATING MONEY FOR SUCH PURPOSE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; SECTIOPS 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorised and directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a contract for the construction of certain improvements described as follows: Bayfront protection and storm water control, which contract has been awarded to J. DePuy and E. D. DePuy, a partnership, in accordance with the plans and specifications and contract documents as filed with the Council on the 214th day of January, 1947, and according to the bid of said J. DePuy and E. D. DePuy opened on the 24th day of January, 1947, the said bid of J. DePuy and E. D. DePuy being the lowest and the most advantageous to the City. SECTION 2. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $885,000.00 from the Seawall and Breakwater Construction Fund No. 258 for the purpose of paying the cost of such bayfront protection and storm water control program under the above and foregoing contract. SECTION 3. The fact that it is to the great and beneficial interest of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, that such improvements be immediately begun and that such improvements will protect the bayfront of the City of Corpus Christi from storms and other damage and that such im- provements are badly needed, creates 'a public emergency and an imperative public necessity and requires the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that said ordinance and resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council and the Mayor having declared that said emergency and imperative public necessity exist,'and having requested that said Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and that it be in effect from and after its passage, IT IS, ACCORDINGLY, SO ORDAINED.
