DIVIDING THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS,
INTO TWENTY -THREE GENERAL ELECTICN PRECINCTS
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE CITY
CHARTER FOR THE PURPOSE OF HOLDING ELECTIONS
IN SAID CITY FOR THE ELECTION OF ELECTIVE OF-
FICERS OF SAID CITY; FIXING THE BOUNDARIES OF
SAID PRECINCTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ORDINANCES
OF SAID CITY DESIGNATING THE ViARDS OF SAID CITY;
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND DECLARING AN EMER-
GENCY.
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, has, since
the passage of an ordinance creating wards and general election pre-
cincts within the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, annexed additional
territory; and
VMEREAS, it is expedient that the wards of the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas, be made to conform as nearly as possible to
the county precincts of the County of Nueces in the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, in order to hold the elections of said City in an
orderly and proper fashion with the minimum of confusion; and
WHEREAS. the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, has on this day created an additional ward, and re- designated
certain wards within the corporate limits of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that such additional territory
be designated or included in the general election precincts of the
City in order that the general City election to be held on the lot
day of April, 1947, can be held;
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Corpus Christi be and the same
is hereby divided into twenty -three election precincts to correspond
with the twenty -three wards of the City of Corpus Christi, within which

the voters residing therein shall vote for the elective officers
of the City of Corpus Christi, and that the boundaries of said
election precincts shall be as follows:
(a) General Election Precinct Number One (1) shall
be composed of the First Ward of said City, as that
ward is designated by metes and bounds and fixed by
Ordinance duly passed and approved on the 27th day of
February, 1945.
(b) General Election Precinct Number Two (2) shall
be composed of the Second Ward of said City, as that
ward is designated by metes and bounds and fixed by
Ordinance duly passed and approved on the 27th day of
February, 1945.
(o) General Election Precinct Number Three (3) shall be
composed of the Third Ward of said City, as that ward
is designated by.metes and bounds and fixed by Ordinance
duly passed and approved on the 27th day of February, 1945.
(d) General Election Preaino-Y Number Four (4) shall
be composed of the Fourth Ward of said City, as that ward
is designated by metes and bounds and fixed by Ordinance
duly passed and approved on the 27th day of February, 1945•
(e) General Election Precinct Number Five (5) shall
be composed of the Fifth Ward of said City, as that
ward is designated by metes and bounds and fixed by Ordi-
nance duly passed and approved on the 27th day of Feb-
ruary, 19145•
(f) General Election Precinct Number Six (6) shall
be composed of the Sixth Ward of said City, as that
ward is designated by motes and bounds and fixed by
Ordinance duly passed and approved on the 27th day of
February, 1945.
(g) General Election Precinct Number Seven (7) shall
be composed of the Seventh Ward of said City, as that
ward is designated by metes and bounds and fixed by Ordi-
nance duly passed and approved on the 27th day of February,
1945-
(h) General Election Precinct Number Eight (8) shall
be composed of the Eighth Ward of said City, as that
ward is designated by metes and bounds and fixed by Ordi-
nance duly passed and approved on the 27th day of February,
1945.
(i) General Election Precinct Number Nine (9) shall
be composed of the Ninth Ward of said City, as that ward
is designated by metes and bounds and fixed by Ordinance
duly passed and approved on the 27th day of February,
1945.
(j) General Election Precinct Number Ten (10) shall
be composed of the Tenth Ward of said City, as that ward
is designated by metes and bounds and fixed by Ordinance
duly passed and approved on the 27th day of February, 19145•

(k) General Election Precinct Number Eleven (11)
shall be composed of the Eleventh Ward of said City as
the said ward is designated by metes and bounds and
fixed by ordinance duly passed and approved on the 18th
day of February, A. D., 1947, said ordinance being an
amendment to Ordinance No. 1781, which was passed and
approved on the 27th day of February, 1945.
(1) General Election Precinct Number Twelve (12)
shall be composed of the Twelfth Ward of said City, as
that ward is designated by metes and bounds and fixed
by Ordinance duly passed and approved on the 27th day
of February, 1945•
(m) General Election Precinct Number Thirteen (13)
shall be composed of the Thirteenth Ward of said City,
as that ward is designated by metes and bounds and fixed
by Ordinance duly passed and approved on the 27th day,
of February, 1945•
(n) General Election Precinct Number Fourteen (14)
shall be composed of the Fourteenth Ward of said City,
as that ward is designated by metes and bounds and
fixed by Ordinance duly passed and approved on the
27th day of February, 19tt5•
(o) General Election Precinct Number Fifteen (15)
shall be composed of the Fifteenth Ward of said City,
as that ward is designated by metes and bounds and
fixed by Ordinance duly passed and approved on the
27th day of February, 1945.
(p) General Election Precinct Number Sixteen (16)
shall be composed of the Sixteenth Ward of said City,
as that ward is designated by metes and bounds and
fixed. by Ordinance duly passed and approved on the
27th day of February, 1945.
(q) General Election Precinct Number Seventeen
(17) shall be composed of the Seventeenth Ward of said
City, as that ward is designated by metes and bounds
and fixed by Ordinance duly passed and approved on the
27th day of February, 1945.
(r) General Election Precinct Number Eighteen (18)
shall be composed of the Eighteenth Ward of said City,
as that ward is designated by metes and bounds and
fixed by Ordinance duly passed and approved on the
27th day of February, 1945•
(s) General Election Precinct Number Nineteen (19)
shall be composed of the Nineteenth Ward of said City,
as that ward is designated by metes and bounds and
fixed by Ordinance duly passed and approved on the
27th day of February, 1945.
(t) General Election Precinct Number Twenty (20)
shall be composed of the Twentieth 7Jard of said City,
as that ward is designated by metes and bounds and
fixed by Ordinance duly passed and approved on the
27th day of February, 1945.

(u) General Election Precinct Number Twenty -One (21)
shall be composed of the Twenty -First ward of said City,
as that ward is designated by metes and bounds and fixed
by Ordinance duly passed and approved on the 27th day of
February, 1945•
(v) General election Precinct Number Twenty- two'(22)
shall be composed of the Twenty - Second Ward of said City,
as that ward was created and designated by metes and bounds
and fixed by Ordinance duly passed and approved on the
27th day of February, 1945, as amended by Ordinance passed
February 18, 1947-
(w) General election Precinct Number Twenty -Three (23)
shall be composed of the Twenty -Third Ward of said City,
as that ward was created, added, . and designated by metes
and bounds and fixed by Ordinance duly passed and approved
on the 18th day of February, A. D., 1947, said ordinance
being an amendment to Ordinance No. 1781, which was passed
and approved on the 27th day of February, 1945-
SECTION 2. That all ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. The fact that the City Council of the City of
Corpus Christi found it imperative and necessary to divide the City
of Corpus Christi into twenty -three wards; the facts set out in the
"WHEREAS" clause above; and the further fact that it is necessary and
imperative that the election precincts correspond to the wards of the
City, creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meet-
ings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such
public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested
that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of
the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.
