APPROPRIATING MONEY FROM GAS SYSTEM EXTENSION,
IMPROV32NT AND REHABILITATION BONDS FUND NO.
266 AND TRANSFERRING SAID MONEY TO GAS FUND NO.
106 FOR THE PURPOSE OF REPLACING, E%TENDING AND
IMPROVING GAS LINES ON MORRIS STREET, LEARY
STREET, ALAIVIEDA STREET, CUIPER ADDITION, COMANCHE
STREET, AND NORTH BROADWAY STREET IN THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, there is needed the sum of Seven Hundred and thirteen
Dollars and One Cent ($713.01) to pay for replacing One Thousand One
Hundred and Eighty (1180) feet of 3/4" gas line on Morris Street between
Thirteenth and Sixteenth Streets and same being City Project No. 371; and
WHEREAS, there is needed Twelve Hundred and Fifty -eight Dollars and
Thirteen Cents ($1,258.13) for replacing an existing gas line One Thousand
Three Hundred and Fifty -two (1,352) feet in length located on Leary Street
between Comanche and Lipan Streets being City Project No. 374; and
WHEREAS, there is needed the sum of Geventy -six Hundred and Ninety -one
Dollars and Seventy -eight Cents ($7691.78) for supplementing existing
gas lines One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty -eight (1,738) feet in
length on Alameda Street between Louisiana and Minnesota being City Pro-
ject No. 391; and
WHEREAS, there is needed the sum of Eighty -two Hundred and Seventy -six
Dollars and seventy -four Cents (:$8,276.74) for extending of gas mains in
Cuiper 'addition Eleven Thousand, Two Hundred and Forty (11,240) feet, being
City Project No. 407s and
TMREAS, there is needed the sum of Eight Thousand Eight Hundred and
Ninety -seven Dollars and Seventy -two Cents ($8,897.72) to replace existing
gas lines on Comanche Street from Palm to Nineteenth Street, being Three
Thousand Three Hundred and Eighty -three feet in length, and being City Pro-
ject No. 1430; and
WHEREAS, there is needed the sum of Fourteen Thousand Five Hundred and
Two Dollars and Ninety -six Cents ($14,502.96) to replace existing gas lines,
Forty -eight Hundred and Sixty -six (14,866) feet in length, on North Broadway
from Mann Street to Resaca; Resaca to Mesquite; and Mesquite to the Drawbridge,
being City Project No. %46; and

WHEREAS, the total amount needed to repair, replace and extend
the aforesaid gas lines is Forty -One Thousand Three Hundred and Forty
Dollars and Thirty -four Cents ($41,340.30; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in Gas System Extension, Improve-
ment and Rehabilitation Bonds Fund No. 266, which is now unencumbered
and which funds are available for this purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS=
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of Forty -one
Thousand Three Hundred and Forty Dollars and Thirty -four Cents ($10310.34)
from the Gas System Extension, Improvement and Rehabilitation Bonds Fund
No. 266 which money is to be used for improvement and rehabilitation of
gas lines on Dorris Street, Leary Street, Alameda Street, in Cuiper Addi-
tion, on Comanche Street and on North Broadway, and said sum of Forty -one
Thousand Three Hundred and Forty Dollars and Thirty -four Cents * ,340.34)
is hereby transferred to Gas Fund No. 106, to be used for the purposes
above stated.
SECTION 2. The fact that improvement and rehabilitation of the gas
system is essential to the health and welfare of the citizens of this
City creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring
the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative
necessity exist, and having required that such Charter rule be suspended,
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction,
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance a public emergency and imperative necessity exist
for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordi-
nance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is intro-
duced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you
suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the
City Council.

I have examined the accounts and fund from which the
appropriation is made, as provided for in the ordinances attached
hereto, and I do certify that the money required for such appro-
priation is in the Treasury to the credit of the fund from which
such appropriation is to be drawn, and that there are monies in
such fund which are not appropriated for any other purpose and
which are available at this time.
