APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $6,000.00 FROM GENERAL
FUND NO. 102 TO BE USED FOR TBE PURPOSE OF TYPHUS
CONTROL IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the budget as originally set up for the fiscal
year for Typhus Control did not anticipate the present rodent eradica-
tion program which involved additional cost for labor and materials and
which has resulted in a substantial decrease of this budget item, and
IMEREAS, the revenue to date received by the City by
virtue of typhus control, rodent eradication is in excess of Six Thousand
06,000.00), and
WEERF.AS, there are sufficient funds in General Fund No.
102 which is unencumbered and which funds are available for the purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of
Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00) from General Fund No. 102 which money
Is to be used for the purpose of typhus control and rodent eradioation
for the remainder of this fiscal year.
SECTION 2. The necessity for the control of typhus and
eradication of rodents within the limits of the City of Corpus Christi
creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date it is introduoed, and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative
necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended,
and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction,
take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemens
I have examined the accounts and funds from which the
transfers and the appropriations are made, as provided for in the
ordinance attached hereto, and I do certify that the money to be
transferred is available, and I do further certify that the money
required for such appropriation is in the Treasury to the credit of
the fund from which such appropriations are to be drawn, and that
there are monies in such funds which are not appropriated for any
other purpose and which are available at this time.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist
for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced,
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings
of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said
Charter rule or requirement and pass the ordinance finally on the date
it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
