APPROPRIATING MONEY FROM GAS FUND N0. 106
FOR GAS DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM CAPITAL OUTLAY
BUDGET ITEMS "LAND AND BUILDINGS ", "METERS
AND SETTINGS" AND "MAINS AND HYDRANTS" AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, there is needed the sum of Fifty -one Hundred
Dollars ($5s100.00) for use by the Gas Distribution tystem for "Land
and Buildings "; and
WHEREAS, there is needed the sum of Sixty -nine Hundred
Dollars ($6,900.00) for the Gas Distribution System for "Meters and
Settings "; and,
WHEREAS, there is needed the sum of Twenty -five Thousand
Dollars ($25,000.00) for the Gas Distribution System for "Mains and
Hydrants "; and,
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the Gas Fund No. 106
which is now unencumbered and which are available for this purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS=
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of Fifty -one
Hundred Dollars ($5,100.00) from Gas Fund No. 106 for Gas Distribution
System Capital Outlay Budget Item "Land and,_Bui;dings't to be used for
defraying expenses incurred regarding such lands and buildings.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of Sixty -
nine Hundred Dollars ($6,900.00) from Gas Fund No. 106 for Gas Distribution
System Capital Outlay Budget Item "Meters and Settings" which money is
to be used for meters and settings in the Gas Department.
SECTION 3. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of Twenty -
five Thousand Dollars (425,000.00) from Gas Fund No. 106 for Gas Distri-
bution System Capital Outleyc Budget Item "Mains and Hydrants" which money
is to be used for expenses regarding mains and hydrants.
SECTION 4. The fact that it is essential to keep the gas system
in good operating order for the welfare of the citizens of this city
creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the

suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution
shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetin.ge
of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public
emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that
such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in
full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen;
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request
that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this
ordinance Finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present m
meeting of the City Council.

I have examined the accounts and fund from which the
appropriation is made, as provided for in the ordinance attached
hereto, and I do certify that the money required for such appro-
priation is in the Treasury to the credit of the fund from which
such appropriation is to be drawn, and that there are monies in
such fund which are not appropriated for any other purpose and
which are available at this time.
