HomeMy WebLinkAbout02081 ORD - 05/13/1947AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ADOPTED ON THE 27TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1937, AND APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 9, PAGES 565, ET SEQ, OF THE ORDI- NANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND AS AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME THEREAFTER BY ZONING OR CLASSIFYING AS HEREIN SET OUT THAT AREA DESCRIBED AS LOTS ONE (1) TO ELEVEN (11), INCLUSIVE, BLOCK FOUR (4), BAY TERRACE ADDITION TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEARS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of Corpus Christi has heretofore held a public hearing for the purpose of hearing objections or recommendations in respect to changing the zoning of that area described as Lots One (1) to Eleven (11), inclusive, Block Four (4), Bay Terrace Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and, WHEREAS, after said hearing the City Zoning and Planning Commission did, as a result of said hearing and after due deliberation, file its report and recommendation to the City Council as to the change in zoning classification of the above described area; and, WHEREAS, the City Council did order a public hearing to be held by the City Council on the 8th day of April, 1947, for the purpose Of giving all interested parties, citizens, and property owners the Opportunity to be heard on the proposed change in zoning classification of the said area and notice of such hearing was published in the Corpus Christi Press on the 13th day of March, 1947, 20th day of March, 1947, and 27th day Of March, 1947; and, WHEREAS, after having received and considered said report and recommendation of the City Zoning and Planning Commission, the City Council did on the 8th day of April, 1947, hold such hearing where all interested citizens, property owners and other parties had the opportunity to be heard on the proposed amendment to zoning ordinance and map of City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and WHEREAS, at such hearing all discussions and proposals in regard to said zoning by parties appearing thereat were heard and considered by the City Council; �OV/ NOW, THERffORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CIMISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the zoning classification of the area hereinabove described be changed from Apartment District to Retail District. SECTION 2. That the official zoning map of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, is hereby amended as herein ordained. SECTION 3. That all ordinance or parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. The fact that it is of the greatest public importance to immediately put in force the change in the zoning ordi- nance and map as above provided for the purpose of providing for the orderly and progressive growth of the City and for the protection of the lives, health, property and welfare of the citizens, creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the sus- pension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the I!4ayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be sus- pended, and.that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SnO�ORDA.122D.
