AN ORDINANCE �� �z
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE FOR AND
ON BEHALF OF THE SAID CITY A LEASE CONTRACT WITH
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FOR THE CONTROL TOPER
AT THE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute for and on
behalf of the said City of Corpus Christi a lease contract between the
City of Corpus Christi and the United States of America covering the following
described property, to -wit:
The entire Control Tower structure, said structure containing
five rooms of approximate area 154, 115, 115, 115, and 154 square
feet respectively, for a total area of approximately 653 square feet
of floor space, said structure located approximately 120 feet south-
west of the Administration Building, at the Municipal Airport, Corpus
Christi, Nueces County, Texas,
said lease being for and in consideration of One Dollar ($1.00), bearing
date of May 27, 1947, and is for the United States of America Civil
Aeronautics Administration to secure the operation of the Control Tower
at the Municipal Airport.
SECTION 2. The fact that it is necessary for aviation activities
to have an adequate control tower at the Municipal Airport creates a public
emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having
declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and
having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordi-
nance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and
be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED.

Gentlement
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
