HomeMy WebLinkAbout02095 ORD - 05/27/1947A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF TEE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY A SPECIAL WARRANTY DEED TO HARRY BARTLETT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi be and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of the said City of Corpus Christi a Special Warranty Deed to Harry Bartlett, a copy of which deed is attached hereto and made a part hereof and reads as follows, to -wit: STATE OF TEXAS, G COUNTY of IRUBCSS. p KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRBSENTSr That the City of Corpus Christi, 'Texas, a municipal corpor- ation, of the County of Bueoes and State of Texas, for and in con- sideration of the sum of Ten and Fo/100 (010.00) Dollars to it in hand paid by Harry Bartlett, and in further consideration of the conveyance by the grantee herein to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, of even date herewith, and other good and valuable considerations, has Granted, Bargained, Sold and Conveyed, and by these presents doss Grant, Bargain, Sell and Convey unto the said harry Bartlett, of Nueces County, Texaa, +the following described tract or parcel of land, being and situated in Nueces County, Texas, and within the corporate limits of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and being more fully described as follows, to wit. A treat, col£ land Forty (40) by Fifty (50) feet lying and be- ing Salt of/iro $iz (6), Block Sixty -three (63) of Beach Portion of the City 3 Corpus Christi, Texas, more particularly described by metes and bounds as followsx The beginning point is located by starting at the Northwest corner of Lot Seven (7), said Block Sixty -three (63), and following the Borth Line of Lots Seven (7), and Six (6) in in easterly direc- tion Three Hundred Z.c. (300) feet to the point of beginning. Thence in a Southerly direction parallel with the East line of Water Street Fifty (50) feet to point for the Southwest corner of the tract hereby conveyed; Thence at right angles in an Easterly direction Forty (40) feet to a point for the Southeast corner of the tract hereby conveyed, Thence in a Northerly direction parallel with the East line of Water Street Fifty (50) Poet to a point for the Northeast corner of the tract hereby conveyed; Thence in a Westerly direction parallel with the South line of the tract hereby conveyed Forty (40) feet to the Northwest corner of the tract hereby conveyed and point of beginning. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above described premises, together with all and singular the rights and appurtenances thereto in anywise belonging, unto the said Harry Bartlett, his heirs, successors and assigns. The necessity for widening and improving "Water Street which is a main thoroughfare in the City and the necessity for acquiring right- of-way for such widening creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVED, PASSED AND APPROVED this i day of 4Z / A. R � City of Corpus Christi, Texas ATTEST: �f, J ulzy secrezary ! f APPROVED AS TO LEGAL FORITz City Attorney Corpus Christi, Texas May y 7 , 1947 TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing resolution, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this resolution finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
