HomeMy WebLinkAbout02101 ORD - 06/17/1947I { AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY A LEASE WITH GUY A. THOMPSON, TRUSTEE FOR THE SAN ANTONIO, UVALDE AND GULF RAILROAD COMPANY FOR STORAGE TANKS SITE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TEE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute for anion behalf of said City a lease contract with Guy A. Thompson, Trustee for the San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf Railroad Company, said lease being dated March 26, 1947, and beginning as of October 1, 1946, and covering the following described parcels of land located in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, said leased premises to be used solely as a site for Lessee +s storage tanks, and said lease having a rental consideration of Forty Dollars ($40.00) per years Parcel No. 1 Beginning at the point of interseotica of the southerly line of Sam Ranken Street with the east line of Kelly Street, Corpus Christi, Texas; Thence Easterly, along Carrier's northerly property line and crossing Kelly Street at right angles, a distance of 60 feet to a point; Thence Southeasterly, and parallel to the oenterline of Carrier's main line track, a distance of 85 feet to a point; • point; Thence Southwesterly, at right angles, a distance of 95 feet to Thence Northeasterly, at right,angles, adistance of 125 feet to • point in the southerly line of Sam Ranken Street; Thence Northeasterly, along the southerly line of Sam Ranken Street, a distance of 50 feet to the point of beginning; Containing 10,975 square feet, more or less. Parcel No. 2 37ginning at a point in the southerly line of Sam Ranken Street, Corpus Christi, Texas, this point also being 74.5 feet, measured at right angles, northerly from the centerline of Carrier's main line track; Thence Northeasterly, along the southerly line of Sam Ranken Street, a distance of 15 feet to a point; Thence Southeasterly, at right angles, a distance of 125 Feet to a point; s point; Thence Southwesterly, at right angles, a distance of 15 feet to Thence Northwesterly, at right angles, a distance of 125 feet to a point in the southerly line of Sam Ranken Street, or the point of beginning; Containing 1,875 square feet, more or less. SECTION 2. The necessity for immediate securing of proper sites for storage tanks in which to store asphalt which is needed for 6� construction purposes in the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be sus- pended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. City of Corpus Christi, Texas ATTEST: APPROVED AS TO LEGAL FORM: �y AAD orney Corpus Christi, Texas June /% , 1447 TO THE ME13LRS OF TFM CITY COTTUCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set fortis in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and inperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
