AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, TO EXECUTE
FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE SAID CITY AN AGREE-
MENT WITH THE FEDERAL WORKS AGENCY OF THE UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA FOR ENGINEERING WORK RELATIVE
TO TEE WATER SYSTEM AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXASs
SECTION 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute
for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, an agreement with
the Federal Yorks Agency of the United States of America and being,
more specifically, B.F.C. Farm 405, Federal Works Agency Forms a copy
of such agreement is,attaohed hereto and made a part hereof and
reads as follows, to -wits

Facilities, to advance $60,000 for the purpose of plan preparation for construc-
tion of the public work described as extensions and improvements to an existing
water system, consisting of rip -rap protection at the Lake Corpus Christi dam, additional
elevated storage tanks, extensions to distribution system, and cross connections between
main supply lines
located at Corpus Christi, lexae and, contingent upon receipt of the advance,
offers to complete such plan preparation and to repay such advance when required in
accordance with the regulations of the Bureau dated January 1 , 194 6 .
Pursuant to authority duly vested by the governing body of the Applicant, this
agreement has been executed in behalf of the Applicant by the undersigned on the
17th day of June , 194 7 .

SECTION 2. The necessity for maintaining an adequate
water system for the City of Corpus Christi and the necessity, for
extensions and improvements to said Water system creates a public
emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension
of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency
and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such
Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be
in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Chs,rter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meetin: of
the City Council.
