HomeMy WebLinkAbout02106 ORD - 07/01/1947AN ORDINANCE �CrG PROHIBITING THE WEARING OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI REGULATION POLICE UNIFORMS AND BADGES BY PERSONS NOT A MEMBER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI POLICE FORCE;PRESCRIBING THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF; A,rD DECLARING ALT EL1ERGEIXY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; SECTION 1. That whoever shall wilfully and without due authority use or wear the uniform or badge or any uniform or badge of the City of Corpus Christi Police Department,unless he shall be entitled to use or wear the same under the rules described by the Chief of Police as set out in the City Charter and the amend- ments thereto, shall be fined not less than One (4;:1.00) Dollar and not exceeding Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars. Each days viola- tion hereof shall constitute a separate offense. SECTION 2. The necessity for precluding persons other than the !-olice Department from wearing uniforms and badges of such department creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordi- nance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, ZT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
