REDUCING CERTAIN APPROPRIATIONS IN CURRENT
FUND NO. 102 AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS OUT OF
EXCESS REVENUE OF THE CURRENT FUND TO CURRENT
FUND NO. 102 ITEMS "CORPORATION COURT ", $500.00;
"CIVIL SERVICE ", $200.00; " PARK DIVISION ",
$1,800.00; "RECREATION DIVISION ", $2,500.00;
"TAX OFFICE ", $1,900.00; "CITY ATTORNEY ", $200.00,
"WELFARE DIVISION ", $1,000.00; "TYPHUS CONTROL
(PRIVATE PREMISE INSPECTION) ", $1,700.00; "POLICE
DIVISION ", $22,000.00; "FIRE DIVISION ", $3,500.00;
"GARBAGE COLLECTION ", $32,500.00; "INCINERATION
AND DISPOSAL", 04,000.00; "INSPECTION DIVISION ",
$800.00; "CITY HALL ", $5,600.00; "CUDDIHY FIELD
OPERATIONS ", $4,600.00; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the budget of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
contains certain items of expenditure supported by proper appropria-
tions for the following items: Mayor and commissioners, City Manager,
State Guard, Street Lighting, Golf Course, Contingent fund, V. D.
Clinic, Weed Control Division, Radio, Engineering division, Wharves
and Piers, Street Cleaning division, and Airport operations, and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the City can, without
detriment to the above named departments reduce the appropriations as
follows;

and it has been determined that such amounts are, and will be for the
balance of this year, surplus and will not be spent; and,
WHEREAS, the Current Fund No. 102 of the City needs additional
funds for Corporation Court, Civil Service, Park division, Recreation
division, Tax office, City Attorney, Welfare division, Typhus control,
Police division, Fire division, Garbage collection, Incineration and
disposal, Inspection division, City Hall and Cuddihy Field operations,
to satisfactorily carry out various programs to be completed before the
end of this fiscal year;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TERASr
SECTION 1. That the appropriations for Current Fund
No. 102 under the following item heads are hereby reduced as follows,
to-wit:

making a total reduction of W,600.00. That such reduction and
appropriation leaves unencumbered and unappropriated in the Current
Fund No. 102 the sum of $48,600.00.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby appropriated out of excess
revenue and Current Fund No. 102 for the following budget items, to -wit:

SECTION 3. The fact that it is necessary to reduce the sur-
plus amounts as set forth in this ordinance and to appropriate the necessary
expenditures as herein set forth in order that the proper operating expenses
of the City can be met creates a public emergency and public imperative
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance
or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public
emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that
such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
I have examined the accounts and fund from which the
appropriation is made, as provided for in the ordinance attached
hereto, and I do certify that the money required for such appro-
priation is in the Treasury to the credit of the fund from which
such appropriation is to be drawn, and that there are monies in
such fund which are not appropriated for any other purpose and
which are available at this tine.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
