INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF BUDGET ITEM "STREET
MAINTENANCE" IN THE SUM OF SIXTY THOUSAND
($60,000.00) DOLLARS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, additional funds in the amount of Sixty Thousand
($60,000.00) Dollars are needed in Budget Item "Street Maintenance "; and,
WHEREAS, they are now needed in "Street Maintenance" in order
to satisfactorily carry out various programs to be completed by the
end of this fiscal year; and,
WHEREAS, there has been transferred the sum of Fifty Thousand
($50,000.00) Dollars to Street Fund No. 108 from Current Fund No. 102; and,
WHEREAS, there is an additional Ten Thousand ($10,000.00)
Dollars in such Street Fund making a total of Sixty Thousand ($60,000:00)
which is available and unencumbered for this purposes
NCR, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS;
SECTION 1. That Budget Item "Street Maintenance" is hereby
increased in the sum of Sixty Thousand (60,000.00) Dollars and the said
$60,000.00 is hereby appropriated for use in Street Maintenance.
SECTION 2. The fact that it is essential to provide proper
and adequate streets and to properly maintain same within the City creates
a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspen-
sion of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor
having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist,
and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this
ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take
effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS
ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

I have examined the accounts and fund from which the
appropriation is made, as provided for in the ordinance attached
hereto, and I do certify that the money required for such appro-
priation is in the Treasury to the credit of the fund from which
such appropriation is to be drawn, and that there are monies in
such fund which are not appropriated for aW other purpose and
which are available at this time.

Gentlemens
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
