APPROPRIATING MONEY FROM HOSPITAL CONSTRUCTION
FUND NO. 235 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING FOR
EgUIPMENT FOR THE CITY - COUNTY HOSPITAL AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, there is due the sum of Nine Hundred and Ninety -three
Dollars and Six Cents ($993.06) for laundry and water softener equipment
purchased from the War Assets Administration, said equipment to be used
in the City - County Hospital; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi is obligated to pay one-
half (2) of the aforesaid sum which is Four Hundred and Ninety -six Dollars
and Fifty -three Cents ($96.53); and,
WHEREAS, there is sufficient funds in the Hospital Construction
Fund No. 235, which is now unencumbered and which funds are available
for this purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of Four
Hundred and Ninety -six Dollars and Fifty -three Cents ($4.96.53) from the
Hospital Construction Fund No. 235 which money is to be used to pay for
laundry and water softener equipment purchased from the Oar Assets Adminis-
tration for the City - County Hospital.
SECTION 2. The fact that such laundry and water softener equip-
ment is essential for adequate hospital facilities at the City - County
Hospital creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity re-
quiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution
shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance
or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council,
and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative
necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended,
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,

Gentlemen:
I have examined the accounts and fund from which the
appropriation is made, as provided for in the ordinance attached
hereto, and I do certify that the money required for such appro-
priation is in the Treasury to the credit of the fund from which
such appropriation is to be drawn, and that there are monies in
such fund which are not appropriated for any other purpose and
which are available at this time.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the
foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity
exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that
you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance
finally on the date it is introduced,.or at the present meeting of
the City Council.
