HomeMy WebLinkAbout02146 RES - 09/09/1947A RESOLUTION RENEVPING TAXICAB PERMITS FOR A PERIOD OF NINETY (90) DAYS, SABRE BEING HELD BY BLUE AND IHITE CAB COMPANY, LONGORIA TAXICAB COMPANY, RED TOP CAB COMPANY, KING'S TAXI, CRECY TAXICAB COMPANY AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Blue and White Cab Company has been granted eight (8) taxicab permits by the City Council which are not in use and Longoria Taxicab Company three (3) permits which are not in use, Red Top Cab Company two (2) permits which are not in use, King's Taxi two (2) permits which are not in use and Crecy Taxicab Company two (2) permits which are not in use, said permits not being in use due to the fact that automobiles are not obtainable at this time; and, 17BEREAS, said permittees have petitioned the City Council for a renewal of their permits for a period of ninety (90) days, Naff, TIUMLFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS. SECTION 1. That the eight (8) permits of Blue and White Cab Company not in use are hereby renewed and extended for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of this resolution and the three (3) Permits of Longoria Taxicab Company not in use are hereby renewed and extended for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of this resolution and the two (2) permits of Red Top Cab Company not in use are hereby renewed and extended for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of this resolution and the two (2) permits of King's Taxi not in use are hereby renewed and extended for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of this resolution and the two (2) permits of Crecy Taxicab Company not in use are hereby renewed and extended for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of this'reso- lution. SECTION 2. The necessity for providing adequate taxicab facilities for the citizens of this City now and in the future creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this resolution be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY $O RESOLVED.
